Campers got a break from the barbie yesterday when they were treated to a home-cooked meal courtesy of Dancing with the Stars judge Paul Mercurio.
The Strictly Ballroom star was in town filming his Channel 7 cooking show, Mercurio’s Menu, which focuses on regional cuisine.

PEOPLE still ask Paul Mercurio about Strictly Ballroom, the hugely successful 1992 Baz Luhrmann film that made the suave former Sydney Dance Company star a household name.
But these days it’s food rather than acting or dancing that’s dominating his life.
His interest in food stretches back to his time as a 16-year-old head chef at a Red Rooster restaurant. “Basically I was the young bloke who gets paid $1.40 an hour to cook and clean everything. I worked hard and when I was 17 I’d earned enough money to buy my own motorbike.”

‘Dancing With The Stars’ – New Zealand 2009 – line-up revealed

The celebrities who will be strutting their stuff in the new series of popular television show Dancing With The Stars have been announced.
Black Sticks captain Lizzy Igasan, Olympic gold medallist Barbara Kendall, actor Geraldine Brophy; sister and brother acting duo Rebecca and Chris Hobbs, former All Black Josh Kronfeld; Breakfast’s Tamati Coffey, and singer John Rowles will team up with professional dancers for the 2009 series.
Critiquing their ability will be judges Alison Leonard, Craig Revel Horwood, Brendan Cole and Paul Mercurio.
Dancing With The Stars began in 2005 and has raised more than $1.3 million for New Zealand charities.
