Emily had her audition this morning for a musical theatre college that she has her set on attending next year. The past week she has been performing in a musical theatre show and spent three nights staying in a hostel nearby the theatre so she could get to the theatre easily for her matinees etc. I picked her up late last night – oh it was good to see her – she has had a great time and you can just tell she is ready to fly the coup!
Any way we were all up early to get her to her audition on time and in good voice when problems struck:
1. the pianist she had paid and rehersed with who was going to meet her there to play her song music was missing, couldnt get her on the phone
2. we printed up the sheet music just in case she didnt show up and the pianist at the audtion could play – not ideal and we were becoming late
3. the vitamin Emily had with her breakfast didnt agree with her
4. Emily was tired and exhausted from her week and getting a little freaked out
5. Emily threw up just before we left
6. we left late and got some throat soothers on the way
7. Emily warmed up in the car – her voice – I drove too fast but didnt get caught
8. Emily’s body went into shock and she couldnt hit her high notes
9. The sky was about to fall in as we arrived on time
10. it did fall in
11. Emily broke down and couldnt stop crying
12. we got to the audition room – Em’s eyes red rimmed – and there was no pianist
13. Emily called the pianist but there was no answer
14. Emily cried some more – very unlike Emily to be like this
15. Em got the shakes
16. the people at the audition were happy to reschedule Emily for later today
17. we drove home – had a coffee and some french toast first so Emily felt okay
18. pianist finally rang saying she had a family emergency and had to go to Queensland
19. Emily is feeling better but still a bit queezy
20. I am about to leave home – with Emily – to take her to the rescheduled auditon
21. wish us luck!

Pual,
Brings back memoriews of all the traveling we haggard’s used to do with baseball and ballet and girlscouts and football an everything was in a different part of the state.
Mini vans were made to live in. hat is the only way I survived it. But it was some of the best memories I will ever have, running myself ragid for my kids. Before you know it they are gone.
GOOD LUCK EMILY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PAUL, YOU’LLE AHVE TO POST A FIW PICS OF HER IN THE PLAY IN ACTION.
Wow, that will be a busy and memorable day. Good luck to Emily at the workshop! I hope you and Andrea enjoy touring Ballarat and being out of the car for a bit. I’m sure the show on Friday night will be fantastic. Chookas!

I know just what you mean about running yourself ragged for the kids and the great memories and lasting friendships that come from it.
My husband and I did that for years and then rather suddenly the girls are out of the house away at college.
But new memories are being made as my husband and I are going to Hawaii (just the 2 of us!) on Friday for our 23rd anniversary. The same Friday that Emily will be going to her workshop, so we will be sending many, many good thoughts her way!
Gidday Sue – wow 23rd anniversary and all the girls are out of the house?! It is Andrea and my 23rd anniversary on Monday – we will be driving Elise to an appointment and waiting for her then driving her home and then go out for a quick lunch before picking Erin up from school getting her home cooking an early dinner and then taking Emily to rehersals for a musical she is doing.
We both look forward to and dread the day that we have no kids at home to look after but I am sure we will find a new life or way of life that we will love and then ….dare I say it…..grand children!
Hope you have a simply wonderful anniversary and catch a wave for me will ya!

was so excited I guess I just needed to sout it twice
I have no idea how it double posted.
Happy 23rd Anniversary to you and Andrea too Paul! We will definitely be catching some waves!
Our actual anniversary date is December 17th but that is the day my 2 girls, Christina-22 and Samantha-19, will be coming home from college on Christmas break for 5 weeks. So we are celebrating before the hustle and bustle begins again.
It IS a new way of life when the kids are out of the house and we enjoy each other…then they are back again for the summer break or holidays and we love that too.
The hardest part is the transition, for them as well as us. The activity level increases dramatically and they are out of the habit of living by mom and dad’s rules! It takes several days to find a rhythm that works for everyone.
I think we can wait a while for gandchildren. haha
Once again…Good luck to Emily and Congratulations on 23 very busy and I’m sure very happy years!
Wow–can’t wait to hear how everything turns out! What a whirlwind week–not to mention that first day at the auditions! Very exciting!
Early anniversary wishes to Paul and Andrea, and happy anniversary to Sue.
OK, PCs, enjoy your weekend! Looks like December will end this year with a bang!
25. All went well, a lot of kilometres covered, Emily’s workshop was scheduled from 9.15am to 12 midday but then went till 1pm so Andrea and I wandered about Ballarat for that long and then picked up Em and drove home.
Em felt like she did her best but would have liked to have done better – as would we all – she felt pretty good about it.
Now we must endure two weeks or so before “the Letter” arrives telling her yay or nay. Cruel isnt it having to wait for so long?! But that is the Bizz.
Dear Paul,
Have been lurking; very busy, but want to take this time to wish you and Andrea a wonderful anniversary! With all the excitement of Emily’s audition, etc., this will be a memorable anniversary, for sure..may you derive much joy and pride from your children always!
“Follies 2011″ opens on Febr. 14th. We will be ready..it’s a big show; I advertise it as a musical multimedia extravaganza; we have 33 acts, all talented seniors. If you go to Facebook and go to my profile page, you will see the cover of our monthly magazine, with this old lady plopped right in the middle…Hal Linden is almost 80, so at least I’m not the oldest one..yet!
“My Biggest Fan” is going to be shown on SBS on December 10th at 2:30 p.m. I am corresponding with Aussies who I met on Facebook who have seen it. What a pleasure! Through Tara I have heard from Mitchell Butell; what a sweetie and very talented as an actor I was told.
On my profile page also is a clip called “Money Matters”. It features my son-in-law Danny who is the president of a new jean line for women who have trouble finding jeans that fit. The jean is called “Ariya” and it is on Facebook too. They are sold in JC Penny or Macy’s and other specialty stores.
I thought I would put this plug in; after all, it’s a relative…I’m too old and fat for these jeans, but know that some PCers have kids that would love them!
Shalom and love,
Grandma Mil
P.S. To the PCers: My proper name is Mildred Levine in case you are looking me up on Facebook!
I call myself Grandma Mil because: We have 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren (living in Israel), and then the fabulous 9 from 2005 who came to the “Strictly Ballroom” convention here in Florida, still call me “Grandma Mil”…love it, love them, love Paul…
G.M.
You are Grandma Mil, just cause you are Grandma Mil. You are everyones Granma Mil, If youive ever got a call from GMil, youi know she loves all.
We love you too Milly!!!!
Kelly
