17 years

Yep, Married 17 years today! The mind boggles, the heart bursts and all is well in our world.
Still growing, still loving, still pushing, still laughing, there are some things we do too much of and some things we dont do enough of!! But it is about balance, growth, love and enjoying each other and what we have created together.
I am lucky and blessed and thankful!
I love my wife and my life with her and all we have created together. I look forward to what challenges lie ahead and what celebrations we may have together and as a family in the future. The path is unkown but the journey delectable.
I just look forward to life with Andrea!

    Hey all
Wow, I am pooped out. I sponsered a needy child for christmas. (my company gives us $190.00 per child). I was fortunate enough to be assigned a 15 year old girl who liked clothes & jewelry.
Paige and I shopped for her for 4 hours last night. I think I used up my entire week of strength last night. I put a whole new meaning to shop till you drop. But then I did go to 2 different stores and back to the first one to do a return as I found better things elsewere.
I got 2 pair jeans, 1 pair “cargo” type pants, a beautiful poncho, a button up blouse, a sweater, 2 nice pull over shirts, a reversable thick jacket, scarf, hat and glove set, portable cd player and a cd with 17 various artists on it, a beautiful robe (she has probobly never had one), a very decorative watch and lots of jewelry. Some VERY nice and some of those rubber bracelets you can hook together, the kids love those. I got alot on clearence and sale but nothing out of season or style. I was reasurred y a few teens I stopped in the store that what I got was very hip. I knew I wouldn’t be too far off as Clay is 14, Piage is 11 and all of Clay’s girlfrineds are usually older, I figured I wasn’t to far off the mark.
Paige hasd the time of her life. she would say things like, “Do you think this will be the best Christmas she has ever had?” and “This sure feels good, Mom”. I have always tried to teach my kids to “pay it forward”. My son is a little self centered to get it completely but my daughter understands without question. She loves to do for others. She wants to do it again!.
My hubby used to always complain when I would volnteer as it would take me away from him, so I stopped doing it for a very long time. I never got to see him last night as he was already in bed when I got home. I showed him what I got this morning and he was very impressed and thought it was a good idea and wasn’t mad at all.
I know, sounds funny someone getting mad over someone else doing charity, but his attitude used to be ” what have they done for you?”. I have never been lilke that. I like doing for other people, it makes you feel good. Like a big hug. (hugs are the best) Now that I can do this stuff without the verbal reprocussions, I will make a habit of it. In the past I have done things and just not told him about it. It’s a good example for Paige. Makes ya feel good inside. The only thing I didn’t get was a few magazines like Seventeen and Teen people for her, she probobly would have liked that, but then I can’t get everything. I tried to be practical as well.
Well, gotta get Clay & Paige going for school.
    Love to all,
    Kelly

    Dear Paul and Andrea!
Yet annother congratulations on 17 years together! My hubby and I jsut had our 17th in October! The time flys by so quickly, sometimes it feels like forever and sometimes just like a day! We were so young then!! Hey, we still are!! Kids ‘ll do it ya! We’ve been having lots of “mini-dates”, peeling paint to re-do the kitchen, re-painting the dining room, things that don’t cost an awful lot but are fun and meaningful. What a wonderful example you two are to your children, role-modeling love, trust and commitment! Bless you!
Here’s to many more wonderful anniversarsys!
    Still alive in California!!!

    Kelly-
I absolutely love what you are doing!!!! I’m involved in a charity organization called ChemoAngels. I’m a card angel to a woman going through chemo. I said cards weekly and small gifts now and again. I’m also an holiday angel to a 4 yr old girl going through chemo. I’m sending things through the holidays. Our school is collecting for Toys for Tots. I have to stop bringing stuff in! I’ll buy stuff on clearance through the year, so I can give it all at Christmas. I love it. It allows me to give back. I’ve been so blessed in my life, that I want to help others.
I know there I times my husband shakes his head at me, but he knows that it’s very important to me – that giving to others is part of who I am and what makes me feel whole. I don’t care what I get, I just love to give.
    Jill

  18. KELLY says:

    Jill,
I know how you feel. Paige asked me last night if when yu give to others, does it ever come back to you and I said absolutly, it does. You don’t know when or were, but it does come back. I think she is tininking christmas right now, but she is only 11. She is pretty caring for 11.
    Kel

  19. Sally says:

Firstly, let me send good wishes to Paul and Andrea on their anniversay, albeit a little on the late side.
    Kelly and Jill,
Sometimes it doesn’t take much to make someone less fortunate than you happy with just a little gesture, does it? My granddaughter Chelsea is 9 years old and in fourth grade. They had a Holiday Shop set up in school where the kids could buy little things for Christmas. She had $10.00 to spend on gifts, so when she got home, I asked her how her shopping spree was. She said she got what she needed and she had $2.00 left over. I asked what she was going to do with the change and she told me she gave it to a little girl in her class, who never has any money to participate in activities because she lives at the homeless shelter. Her little friend used it to buy gifts for her family. I almost cried when I heard that, I was so proud.
Makes you stop and think, doesn’t it?

  20. Grandma Mil says:

Giving to those less fortunate is indeed a “mitzvah” (blessing) and those who give and those that receive are truly blessed.
When our own children were teenagers, Ellie and I always gave them a gift that was always the right size and the right color…MONEY!
Even now, our grandchildren love to hear that “the check is in the mail” and I always preface it with “don’t spend it in one place!”
Bless them, we have 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, and with Hannakah here, we were thinking of going back to work if we could get jobs at our age…frankly, I’d rather “sing.”
    Shalom and Love,
    Gran Mil

  21. Paul says:

When I hear the words “the cheque is in the mail” I know they havent even written it out yet, but hey, thats show biz!
