Exhausted
Hey Guys, Sorry I havent got back to you as yet regarding the Friday audition. I am ROOTED as we say in Oz. I think with all of the stepping up and rising to the occassion I am just a tad exhausted!!!!!!!!!! Friday went really well and in fact finished with them asking me to read for the second lead role! I flew back to Melbourne that night and went to work on Saturday choreographing a Guys and DOLLS for a highschool production. Sunday I lay in the bean bag and watched the Formula one GP and today, Monday hung out with the girls and did some of our favourite stuff - shopping!!! I am still really drained - I guess I put a lot in. Perhaps the uncertainty of the future is draining some energy away too. I havent read all the posts from the last section but will get to it. My thoughts are with youse all and of course Grandma for her big show which may be happening as I type and Whitney is there?? representing us all I am sure. Sorry you didnt get the gig Timbo. I'll catch up with you guys soon and fill you in on me. Right now I am going to be selfish and hibernate! Note: comments on old entries are closed. Please comment only on the current entry. Comments Paul...So glad things are going so well for you! We all knew they would. Looking forward to more updates. Thinking of you, Linda Posted by: Linda Thomas on March 10, 2003 07:54 PMfrom IP: 216.93.26.99Whitney...I will check out your website to preview some of your work. The show I attended in Chicago last October was S.O.F.A. - Scultured Objects and Functional Art. Actually the big show is in NYC in May. Artists from all disciplines and professional capacity show there. I think they have a website. Maybe there are opportunites for shared space at the show that would be be too expensive. Something to think about. Enjoy your visit with Millie!! Linda Posted by: Linda Thomas on March 10, 2003 08:01 PMfrom IP: 216.93.26.99Paul congratulations!!!!! doing a happy dance on your behalf right now, totally not choreographed whatsoever :) But PLEASE!!!! scratch the "I'm going to be selfish" part from your last sentence. You are NOT selfish, you deserve that break and the hibernating and the resting!!!. Enjoy your accomplishments. I'll drink a toast to you later, it's a bit too earlier for that at 7:20 am before going to work. But I am excited now!!! Congrats again! Caffeine, please kick in! ...... So when is the audition for the second lead role or did that already happen? Congrats on that second lead role audition, too, since as you put it in the previous post making it there would be short of a miracle (or something to that effect). Paul, glad to hear the audition went well and that you are giving yourself time to recover from it all. Continued good wishes to you all. (Did you buy anything fun on your shopping trip?) Diane Posted by: Diane on March 10, 2003 09:42 PMfrom IP: 24.126.195.102Good Morning, all. Hello All. Wow! Congrats again Paul! I knew you'd still be in the running. 2nd lead? They should have had you read for the lead! Of course that would be tougher. Probably best to ease back into this sort of activity. This is wonderful! Have a nice rest! You earned it! Goodmorning Grandma! I guess you're too busy with your show to post lately. I hope you aren't overdoing it! See you soon. Inn, what school of martial arts did you study? I've considered it many times over the years, but I hate the thought of breaking my bones! Hope you mend quickly. Linda, I've heard of the SOFA event. It would be fun to check out, but untill I can find a way to make multiples of an original, I find it almost impossible to let go of something unless it's been comissioned. I want to go to the Met this month and catch the di Vinci show. They featured it on "Sunday Morning" and it looked like a must see show. Best to all! Paul, Good news about the part. Well done. You must be feeling terrific! Have a good rest. Sounds like you need it and definitely DESERVE it! Mysti & Evelyn: I left a message at the end of the previous thread - just wanted to make sure you got it. Peter Posted by: Peter on March 11, 2003 02:42 AMfrom IP: 203.41.31.8CONGRATULATIONS Paul. Knew you could do it and would do it. What do you mean selfish? You're taking time to rest up a bit, spend time with your beautiful daughters and wife. They are your first priority. We're in the wings cheering you on. So very happy that you made it and are being called for the second lead. Kudos mate! Thanks for the sympathy but hell it just wasn't meant to happen. I really did give an award winning interview, the lady was beside herself. Shecouldn't imagine me not being called back. I didn't get it because I didn't pass the written test on investments. I don't have any and haven't played in the stock market for years. I've forgotten a lot and well I just didn't know it. It was meant to be. Something else will come along. Anyway so so so happy for you Paul. Hibernate in the luxury of knowing you did your best and it showed!!!!!! Tim Posted by: Tim Hord on March 11, 2003 03:55 AMfrom IP: 216.78.44.42Paul, dear, so glad you are so close...we knew that success would be yours, and now, knowing that it is an exhausting waiting game, we'll just have to grin and bear it for another few days! Can you feel the love and the confidence that we all have for you? You will find the experience of the first performance of Follies 2003: "Love Is In the Air" Onward to tomorrow, (Tuesday night and Wednesday night), when the Theatre will be filled to capacity, 970 seats each night!) How it gets into your blood, this show biz, no matter what age. I am glad that Whitney will be in the audience to represent this wonderful family! Love, Grandma Posted by: GRANDMA MILLIE on March 11, 2003 05:18 AMfrom IP: 209.86.179.35Go Grandma Millie! I wish I could be there in body and not just spirit. Whit, I studied Shotokan Hard System, dabbled a bit with the idea of Jeet Kune Do and took a few classes in Goshin Ryu. It's a freat thing for women to look into, I took it a bit too far. If you do it go into it with the understanding that it is violence, controlled but still violence. You will have to hit and be hit. Not all women can deal with that. I loved it..it was my life and to this day I still try to practice as much as my abused body will allow. Pete, I saw your post at the end of previous one and left you one there as well :-) and come on, join us in the congratulations dance for Paul, he deserves it and so what, I'm sure you wouldn't be the only one to trip over your own feet and fall, I'm actually very good at that one myself, so I'd join you ... smile! Well, your comment made me laugh. Another standing ovation to Grandma! I'm glad it went so well, but I had no doubts whatsoever on that one. I left you a message and a question at the end of the previous post as well. Inn, I didn't mean to imply that your kids don't love you, but I thought you deserved some kisses to make you feel better, just as you would do for your kids, more kisses to you xxxxxxxxx And now on to the congratulatory toast for Paul that I promised you earlier this morning. And I'm still very excited for you and glowing with pride :) Love to all of you! Grandma Millie...Rock on with the Follies! Break a leg for everyone. Love, Linda Posted by: Linda Thomas on March 11, 2003 07:50 AMfrom IP: 216.93.120.223That's it, Millie. Knock their socks off and leave 'em begging for more! I agree with Mysti's prior post about family. Ya'll are so nice to come home to. Have a great evening/morning! Diane Posted by: Diane on March 11, 2003 07:59 AMfrom IP: 24.126.195.102That's great,Paul! I know I wasn't the only one waiting more or less patiently for news, lol. I second that standing Ovation we'll be giving virtually at the back for Grandma Millie's show!!!!! Big whistles from Katalina here!! (if I could do that 2-fingered mouth whistle I would!!!) Ok...starting "the wave"...now... yeahs to Paul...too! awesome! Hi Inn! that's so cool you're starting karate. I have a good friend who does this w/her husband to keep in good shape. It's working!! Plus it's giving her more energy to keep up with the little ones! Added bonus, yes? Heys to all at PC! Hope your week will be a good one! Warmly, Whitney!!! I'm kicking myself for not checking out the Di Vinci exhibit when it came to the NW about a year ago. I remembered catching it on the news...and wanted to go, but waited too long. Enjoy! Katalina Posted by: Katalina on March 11, 2003 11:27 AMfrom IP: 205.188.209.101Hey Kat. No dear I'm not starting karate..I'm pretty much done with it. I studied for most of my life and now I'm too riddled with arthritis and too dang old to continue. Most days I'm happy if I can walk enough to get through my shift at work. I just stop down my old school to help with sparring class or to tell the kids to take care of their bodies or they will end up a nasty gnarled mess like me. Welcome Marnina!! Thankyou for contributing and bringing a smile to my day :)! Posted by: Paul on March 11, 2003 05:33 PMfrom IP: 211.28.96.68No news. Just as Millie would say... 'on with the show'.... life returns to normal - go to the computer store, work, come home. I would like to be more excited but after having my soul lifted up and allowed to shine during those brief interludes called audtions I now tuck it away for the next rainy day. (yes I hear people murmuring dont tuck it away - but what do I do with it when there is no where else to put it?) I enjoy helping people get the right computer - it sucks your energy away though when you work at really helping and guiding them through this process and then they leave without buying!! Ah good old rejection rears it's ol' ugly head in the wierdest of places. Perhaps I put too much of me into what I do and there fore feel rebuffed and when rebuffed take it to heart. It is strange to try and measure who you are out in small doses based on what you will get out of it!?!? Necessary perhaps but not something I find easy. All the while surviving the week financially burns in the background. To find a balance to discover to discover harmony to find a balance hey paul, my name is greg. I came across your site while i was looking to buy a strickly ballroom dvd. Wanted to drop you a line- i'm a pt/medical massage therapist in nyc. I was the pt/ massage therapist for "TAP DOGS" for about 4 years. I met up and started to work with them when they came to the union square theater here in the city back in 1997, and then toured with the north american and european companies. I currently have a private practice here in manhattan and work with professionals in the fields of dance, theate, film, and sports. Some of the shows I'm currently working with are THE PRODUCERS, HAIRSPRAY, 42 ST, & THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE.(patrick wilson-the original lead in THE FULL MONTY here on broadway is also a client.) I wanted to extend my services-if and when your in the city next-for bodywork. My work includes deep tissue, stretching and medical massage. I've always loved australian flics-strickly ballroom, love serenade,& muriels wedding are phenomenal. I had the time of my life with the australians and made life long friends on those tours. So when i came across your site i thought it would be a nice opportunity to write and offer something back. If you're interested, or even just need advice about ice or heat,(i found most dancers do), feel free to contact me. My references and resume are available and i wouldn't be surprised if you knew some of my clients personally. Best of luck! greg Posted by: greg on March 11, 2003 08:57 PMfrom IP: 66.108.111.158Thanks Greg, I'll keep you in mind when I am next in NY! Posted by: Paul on March 12, 2003 05:42 AMfrom IP: 203.23.235.221Thanks Greg, I'll keep you in mind when I am next in NY! Posted by: Paul on March 12, 2003 05:46 AMfrom IP: 203.23.235.221Thank you for the warm welcome, Paul. Many thanks for bringing a huge smile to my day!! I got back from my second day at the new job and was a little depleted. Just seeing what you wrote made me feel better. I was also very delighted to read that you did well with your audition and I'm looking forward to hearing more good news. I am sorry I don't recall who mentioned the fiberglass stuff to me. I will scroll back and read after I post this. Eric and I are very, very careful and are well aware of the dangers involved with all the stuff we do. We just got a gas heater installed in the garage and the last thing I want is to blow up. So we have a huge ventillation fan now and we have always worn the appropriate masks. I am interested in learning about making molds. We are producing air scoops for the Delorean community and if we could make a mold, we could make them a lot faster. Thank you for caring enough to mention the dangers of fiberglass. Not a lot of people are aware of that and I appreciate it. We plan on having kids someday and the last thing I want to do is contaminate our bodies. We do make fiberglass subwoofer enclosures and I know a lot of people out there despise the loud, boom boom boom. Our cars are set up for sound quality because we love to listen to our music the way it was meant to sound. The people we build the SPL enclosures for compete professionaly so please don't think we are contributing to the punks out there that are so disctracted by the rattling in their trunks they rear end people. On the subject of cars....please make sure you have a good mechanic. I have been by Eric's side since he graduated and started his career and the automotive industry is full of hacks and rip off artists. That is the main reason Eric has such a miserable time at work, he is honest and you can't make money in that industry being honest. So Eric is way underpaid but his customers are the happiest. That's why we hope to open our own business someday. Just keep in mind if you ever have any questions on a repair bill, feel free to run it past me. We would be more than happy to let you know what stuff really costs and how much labor SHOULD be and it's the same no mater where you live. Again, I have really enjoyed reading everything on here and thank you so much for your kind respones to what I have said. As for my job, I am the newest medical record tech at Northwest Community hospital. It's like nothing I have ever done before but a lot of my skills are perfect for this job. I like putting things in numerical order. How weird is that? Now I get paid for it. =) In a couple of weeks I am eligable for tuition reimbursement so then I will be going back to college. Unfortunately I am in an office with about 20 other females and I have nothing in common with any of them. Today I had a wonderful time talking with the guys redmodeling the office...I guess I am just more of a grubby tomboy who likes to build things. I don't even know how to 'play the game' so I just hope I don't get caught up unaware in some interoffice politic mess. Hey Marnina (& Eric)! That's interesting about the Dolorean. Had no idea it was built in Ireland. If memory serves me, i think it has some kick butt doors that open in an unusual way, yes? Is it out and up like a butterfly or wdo they open a different way. There was another vehicle that had a cool door thing too! Can't remember the name. I want to say...lotus? Hope you guys are having a good week so far! Katalina Posted by: Katalina on March 12, 2003 09:05 AMfrom IP: 152.163.189.101Hi Katalina. I have wanted to see the emerald green land of Ireland since I was a young girl. Now I have more of a reason, the factory is still standing just outside of Dunmurray. They have gullwing doors named after the seagull. They open with less clearance than regular doors and the wow factor is much higher! :) Struts assist them in opening, like on the tailgate of a Caravan, but the cool thing is the torsion bar. It controls the opening and shutting of the door and was cryogenicly (sp?) frozen in different positions so it has a memory and is very strong. The doors get a lot of attention but the best comment we heard was in Memphis, an older guy said, "is that a space machine?" It's a really fun experience having a car like that. It keeps us out of trouble 'cause it takes all our money and time. Paul, Did you know that you posted the same message twice? Sara Posted by: Sara on March 13, 2003 04:31 AMfrom IP: 207.30.1.2Marnina, just be yourself at work. Group dynamics take a while to form again when someone new comes along, Yeah I know some of these games that are being played, it'll either pass eventually (or not) ... sometimes faster, sometimes not so fast. You will find the people that you like and who like you and will respect you for who you are. I wouldn't mind having you as a co-worker one bit, actually, I could use someone right about now, but unfortunately that's not a possibility and you live in a different city anyway. Want to move? Just kidding. Give yourself time to adjust and give them time as well. Evelyn Posted by: Evelyn on March 13, 2003 10:13 AMfrom IP: 128.101.249.43Paul, NOTE: Comments are moderated.
