Merry Xmas
I wish to you all the very best for the coming year. I hope and trust that your celebration of Xmas is all that you would like it to be, that love abounds inyour day and in your life. May the challenges be many, the successes even more, may you laugh lots out loud and love noisily as well. Kiss often, hug well, say I love you and mean it at every opportunity. Life is short, celebrations too few, friends too important and smiles too valuable to lock away for another day - so go ahead smile and brighten my day!! To you I toast and wish love, joy, health, harmony and prosperity over this Xmas season and in to the new year of 2004. Peace Paul Note: comments on old entries are closed. Please comment only on the current entry. Comments Dearest Paul, I'm smilin', I'm smilin'! I wish I could hug and kiss you before I start on Stud Muffin (he's still sleeping, it's so early here in Florida...on the other hand, maybe I'll wake him up and convey the thought...) Thank you for your lovely wishes for the holidays. I can't add any more except to say, as the first one on this new thread, I Love You! (to Andrea and the girls, also!) Grandma Mil Posted by: Grandma Mil on December 24, 2003 07:41 PMfrom IP: 209.61.183.89Paul, reading your Christmas wishes is like getting a huge hug. Thanks for the connection. Merry/Happy/Peaceful Year Hi PC, Love to all here for providing a peaceful haven, ongoing comfort, and the sanctuary of emotional safety for one another. Thank you, Paul! and to you, your family, friends and loved ones all of the same and then some more! May all your dreams, wishes, plans come true, the excitement of what is ahead be great and the journey to it even better. I think it's time to lovingly "bug" my family with a phone call again, this would be about phone call number 8 in less than 24 hours :-) and my little big sis promised to give me her full attention today, yesterday, she was worse than a two year old: impatient and unattentitive to pretty much everything other than whatever might be inside of a wrapped gift. Needless to say, I laughed a lot and still am ... Love to all! Posted by: Evelyn on December 25, 2003 09:38 PMfrom IP: 134.84.254.94As this day around
Good Morning Paul, and all, It's 10:00 Christmas morning here in drizzly Southern California! Santa was wonderful to all of us. As usual. We are SO blessed!! To have each other. You'll be spectacular!!! I'm going to be away for a few days, not sure if I have internet access in San Diego or for that matter the time, since I'll be busy with 4 job interviews within 30 hours, but I'm totally excited now and looking forward to it, although I'm sure the butterflies will come back come Sunday morning ... Posted by: Janice Duke on December 27, 2003 08:28 AMfrom IP: 24.184.222.224Hi Paul, I finished watching Strickly Ballroom about 4 hours ago, and thought as I had each time I watched it, "i have got to get to my computer to see what that guy has been up to" " what else can I see him in?" I thought I had better get to my computer before I forget how your last name is spelled.( as I have done so many times in the past) I pulled up your site and was amazed! I have read every single post on this site for the last 2 years! I always liked your work in SB and Exit to Eden, (nice buns, sorry) but I can not beleive how you open yourself up on your postings. You make me feel as though you are my freind, I feel like we have been chatting for the last 4 hours. It is amazing. I want to run out and rent every movie or show you have ever done. I have always felt I was a "what you see is what you get" kind of gal, but reading your posts, you really tell it like you feel. In the business you are in, you are really giving your fans a treat and insight into who you really are. I wish I could fly to Austalia to see The Full Monty. Maybe they will release a dvd in the states. Like you, I am working on 15 years of marraige. I have 2 children, 13 and 10 and enjoy life very much. I so apreciate your putting yourself out there so that we, your fans can admire you. Keep up the good work, I will be tuning in daily from here on in. God Bless and happy holidaysKelly Posted by: KELLY on December 27, 2003 11:26 AMfrom IP: 68.72.10.111Welcome Kelly, your journey is similiar to many of us ...watch the movie, who is that actor, head to the computer...ta da!!! and here we are!!! I've missed sayin' merry Christmas to every1 but i hope you all had a smily, peaceful and generally happy one... What an incredible greeting for the holidays Paul. All my best to you and your family and your mum. Timmer Posted by: Tim Hord on December 29, 2003 09:04 AMfrom IP: 216.78.45.66GRANDMA MIL, Thanks so much for your emails and photes. You are definately and SB fan!! Thanks to all that welcomed me. I certainely feel welcome. PAUL, In one of your posts late last month you talked about how you & your wife could talk to your girls about things very openly. That is the kind of relationship my son and daughter have with me. I find my son telling me things I am glad he is sharing, but not quite sure I am ready to hear. His friends come to me with similar questions as I listen and do not judge, I am just a lovey dovey who hands out hugs and kisses like candy and wouldn't have it any other way. Back to my point. Know how special it is you can talk to them like that and know that when there is a problem, they are more likely to come to you for comfort instead of hiding their feelings afraid of the consequences. It is so important to talk, talk, then talk some more about anything and everything, then the hard stuff doesn't seem so hard after all. I find strength in the leassons my kids teach me and don't even know that they have. My son has Tourettes Syndrome and although he is a gorgeous, athleticaly gifted athelete and top 2% acedemically in the nation (unlike his mom who can't spell)(I'll stop bragging now) and has outgrown "most" of his symptoms, he still struggles every day just to stay as "normal" as he can be. He is my strength. when I feel I have the right to gripe about how my life is less than I think it should be, I look at him and have to tell myself, I really am more lucky than I deserve to be and God gave me 2 wonderful gifts in my children and I thank the heaven they tell me all that they feel and are free to ask any question they wish and they know that question will be answered. Anyway, I just wanted to say keep talking and keep sharing with them every hour of every day of every week until they just can't share anymore. Hopefully that day will never come. Love to all Kelly Posted by: KELLY on December 29, 2003 04:43 PMfrom IP: 68.72.10.132Paul, I want to take this chance to wish you the best of luck on your opening night. I've worked out that it will be 9:00am on the 31st here when the show starts (thanks Grandma Mil for giving me the idea) and at that time, I will be sending as many positive thoughts as is humanly possible across to you. I hope that everything comes together for you and that you will perform to your absolute best. I hope that all the hard work that you have put in pays off and that your talent will shine through clearly for everyone to see. I hope that all that you have given freely to us in the Corner comes back to you a hundredfold while you are on stage and that this will be the start of wonderful things for you. I'm sure knowing that your Mum, Andrea and your girls are in the audience will be a great help to you. They are going to be so proud of you, as will we. Paul, you've earned this. Enjoy it!
Evelyn, I hope all went well with the interviews. Tim and bluedog, you both seem to think that San Diego is somewhere special. Is it just the climate? I'm just curious. I've never been to America but hope to go some day.
Paul, I decided to figure out the time difference too but since it is the middle of the night here I probably won't be sending you the good energy vibes. I'll try not to send you any vibes since the only ones I'll have are sleepy-tired ones. Have fun tomorrow night!! Natalie Posted by: Natalie on December 30, 2003 05:22 AMfrom IP: 68.164.152.61On another note - I'm keeping my fingers tightly crossed that 2004 is going to be better. Actually 2003 wasn't bad but in the last two days our trash compactor broke, the washer sprung a leak, the dishwasher is making a loud, ominous noise and the garbage disposal quit. Oh, and my husband's car is not running well. At least the computer is still humming along. Knock on wood. Natalie Posted by: Natalie on December 30, 2003 05:28 AMfrom IP: 68.164.152.61I will be sending warm and positive thoughts on your opening night. Natalie, ownership can be a real burden when the things we rely upon fail us. Let 2004 be the year in which all your equipment exceeds your expectations and leaves your wallet alone! Evelyn, I've been sending triumphant vibes your way. Let us know all about San Diego and the interviews when you're able. And for those unfamiliar with it, San Diego is a lovely area: temperate climate, clean air, fine theatres and parks, good schools/university. (Still too politically conservative for my tastes, but probably less so than my valley.) I'd move there if given the opportunity. I have missed hearing from Peter and Dhiana and Peter and many others. I do hope you have been enjoying your holidays. May 2004 be a blessed year for all at PC and for your families and friends. Michelle/Chicago Posted by: Michelle on December 31, 2003 03:15 AMfrom IP: 24.14.248.67To Patricia; Another beautiful biblical video is "Jesus of Nazareth" with Robert Powell (an english actor) Jesus with blue eyes? The first time I saw this and he looked directly out of the screen, it sent shivers down my spine. It's about a 6 hour program. It was an original mini series, but I have added it to my biblical collection. Paul, Hope to hear from you soon, I know you shone like the shining start that you are. Take care, Since it's already New Year's Eve in Paul's neck of the woods, may I add my good wishes to everyone else's for Paul's successful debut tonight in TFM. Even though most of us in the States will be sleeping when Paul hits the stage running, we'll all be dreaming of his success, of being there, yelling and whistling and stomping our feet, hollering for more... Break a leg, Paul! Happy 2004 to everyone! Good luck, good wishes and good friends... Sally Posted by: Sally C on December 31, 2003 04:22 AMfrom IP: 172.165.169.242I forgot to mention that my husband Allan will be working on Dick Clark's "Rockin' New Year's Eve" in Times Square (ABC). He'll be puppeteering a familiar product character (whose name I can't reveal because he had to sign a non-disclosure agreement). He's in the Big Apple right now and he's having a great time. He needed some time away and he's thrilled to be in Times Square for the event. Posted by: Diane on December 31, 2003 04:22 AMfrom IP: 24.130.221.100Diane, may we'll be able to spot Alan and his puppet among the frenzy of New Year's Eve in Times Square, if we're lucky! In 1956, while living in New York, Ellie and I decided to go to Times Square and be part of that mob...bad idea...we were so crammed together with everyone, no one could fall if they wanted! Then, some old geezer (I, myself, was then 23 years old) put his fist into my groin, (I had a heavy coat on) and I was sooo mortified, but was able to wiggle away...we never went to Times Square again! I plan to be up at 4:00 a.m. Wednesday, when the curtain rises at the Victorian Arts Center in Melbourne at 8:00 p.m. I expect that Paul will get a round of applause as he comes on for the first time...that's from all of us!!! Which MEANS...Paul, you opened, you dropped, you showed 'em a GREAT time...YAY you! Can't wait to hear about it, but you'll be a might busy from this point out I'll bet. Have a safe night tonight, my American and European friends. I'll be tucked in with my book and my barfing 5-yr old (who will hopefully have stopped by then, he's home with Dad now) for a quiet, restfull (pray pray pray) night. SO far from my youthful years of enjoying bringing in the New Year at the bars and parties with friends. **sigh** It's still good though...just a different good. Know you are blessed, my friends. Hugs, Adding my wishes to the many here for a spectacular opening for you, Paul. Diane, will be watching for that puppet while I wait for the ball to drop in Times Square, from the safety of NW Pennsylvania. Millie, two weeks ago when I was in NYC there were so many people in Times Square everyone was walking in the streets, I cannot imagine being there in person on New Years Eve!!! Your memory has reinforced my thoughts about it. Taking a little breather here to check in on the Corner. I'm playing my "Strictly" sound track while I clean house and think of Paul and his opening night. All the family is here tomorrow for New Years and a college graduation party for our daughter. Dhi, hope your little one gets well quickly. This flu season has made everyone anxious. We've been given all kinds of health directives at school to aid in combating the "sharing" of the germs. To everyone here.....may this new year be one of your best. Happiness to all, help! - anyone found a site reviewing last night's opening? other than that, I'm heading into 2004 - pretty happy, pretty content, facing some health issues for a loved one and carrying a few too many pounds on the bod and generally remaining optimistic that the "dems" won't shoot themselves in the foot, those in office will not start any wars looking for WMD, and california won't implode with schartzy at the helm! Posted by: bluedog on December 31, 2003 09:32 PMfrom IP: 168.56.106.198Hi everyone. I haven't posted here for a while but I have been keeping up with all your news. Paul, your 1st night will probably be over by now so I hope you had a brilliant time and all went well and according to plan. I bet you're still on a high. What a way to see in the new year! I expect those champagne corks have been popping and plenty of beer has been drunk!! Can't wait to hear all about it. We'll be having a quiet family evening at home tonight with just a few beers, nuts and crisps for company! We're getting too old for the madness that goes on in the pubs and clubs these days! I'd like to wish everyone out there a safe, prosperous and happy new year. Much love Hello all! I'm hoping you had a great opening Paul. I know we all wish we could have been there. I'll cross my fingers for a U.S. tour! Grandma Mil once when I was in Times Square on New Year's Eve (1987) I was carrying this bag with me, it just had some juice bottles and snacks. I felt a sharp tug and I thought the bag was gone but I looked down and it was still there. I just shrugged it off. That morning back in the hotel I dumped out the bag and found a man's black wallet! It had no id just a few photos and 20 bucks in it. I wish I knew the story of how it got there and why. I spent the 20 bucks and I still feel guilty about it, but I just don't think anyone would have come to the police dept. to see if the wallet was turned in. Hey,Everyone, I've been up since 4:00 a.m. thinking about Paul's opening that occurred in Melbourne that hour (8:00 p.m. Aussie time.) I remembered reading that this was a preview, and usually, critics are not allowed until the grand opening later on. A preview gives the director and the actors a chance to change anything that needs fixing, in time for the critics later. Bluedog, I will be looking for anything pertaining to the opening of TFM in the Aussie newspapers, and report back to PC if anything shows up. In the meantime, perhaps we'll be able to hear from Paul himself, but he's on a tight performance schedule, so.... Ellie and I will be going to a private party tonight on the premises...no traveling, thank goodness. I was asked to be part of the entertainment, by doing my lip sync...I don't know who I will be tonight..Kate Smith, Ella Fitzgerald, Ethel Merman or Kiri Te Kanawa...after a couple of drinks I may turn out to be Frank Sinatra! (Don't worry, chickies, Grandma doesn't drink anything stronger than grape juice EVER!) Have a great one! Peace and Love, Grandma Mil Posted by: Grandma Mil on January 1, 2004 12:35 AMfrom IP: 209.61.183.89MARGE, I took your advise and watched Joseph. It took me several days to find a video store that had it in. It was FANTASTIC. I can't figur out why Paul doesn't get more attention in the states. Ben Kingsley is a great actor but he was no better than Paul. I don't know why the american media hasn't snatched him up yet. I think he is as handsome if not more, now that he is older. (from the few pics I have seen of him recently) I don't know why we don't see him more. I do know one thing. I prefer his aussie accent to an american one. I have ordered a few of his movies from AU to watch so I am looking forward to getting those. Have a great new year and thanks for the recomendation. Sara Posted by: Sara on January 1, 2004 01:40 AMfrom IP: 206.105.68.197I just read a Reuters news story about the security in place for the festivities in Times Square tonight — air patrols in the skies, snipers on the buildings, etc. I guess I had blocked the orange alert from my mind, but now it's front and center. Rep. Christopher Shays, the Republican head of the House Select Committee on Homeland Security who chairs a subcommittte on terrorism has said he wouldn't go to any place in a major city that is packed with people. Mayor Bloomberg is trying to convince people that the security level makes it a safe place to spend the evening. God, I hope Bloomberg's right for my husband's sake, and for the sake of all our New York friends and the people who will be there tonight to ring in the New Year. Shalom!!!
