Trusting the Universe
It's sink or swim time - AGAIN. Very glad to hear you are swimming Timbo!! I never expected the universe to throw this curve ball at this moment but hey knowing how the universe doesnt work I should have expected it. I keep thinking about that saying - God (in this case universe) gives you what you need not what you want! News flash I kinda feel like I need some security!! But perhaps the universe is saying go get it then and by the way it is not in musicals!! Doh! Learning learning learning or trying to at least. Sink or swim. Trust that the universe throws these things at you like when your mum or dad lets the back of your bicycle go knowing that you may fall and graze a knee but that is part of the growing experience. I am going to swim god dammit! Dont know what I am going to do (apart from swim swim swim) I am going to stay positive and I must admit to being excited about the journey ahead and the unknown adventure (I must be bloody crazy!!!) I trust that the universe is going to keep throwing things at me and I trust that I can deal with all of them. I am letting go of the "how" bit, I will leave that to be answered over a couple of home brews accompanied by a bowl of hindsight. See ya in the pool of life! Note: comments on old entries are closed. Please comment only on the current entry. Comments Paul, I've had a poem running around in my head all day because I've been thinking about dealing with depression. Now that I've read your post, I can see it might be applicable to your situation as well. You've probably read it before. Here it is. Invictus Out of the night that covers me, In the fell clutch of circumstance Beyond this place of wrath and tears It matters not how straight the gate, OK, I might have winced and cried out a bit! I know this is a dark and very Victorian poem, but it speaks to me of the strength of the human spirit that's burning in all of us. Our power of choice especially. With every struggle, we get up and try again. And we still find good in each other and beauty in our world. Glad to hear you've jumped in Paul. Swimming will turn to floating before you know it! Enjoy the beer! Love and Light, Paul, accepting you are still learning is accepting you are still alive. Embracing the unknown adventure that is the future is the ultimate act of faith and trust.Go for it! Love and best wishes, Paul If you didn't check your "Thats Show Biz" post, I sent you a beer batter recipe. You may already have it, but I thought I would send it anyway. Also is a blurb about the beer that Larry would get at Christmas time from his boss. Please let all the TFM cast know that we thinking of them too. Nuf said Love to you Paul, Andrea, and the girls. Take Care Hi... Michelle, "Invictus" may be from the Victorian era, but it still inspires today. My oldest son was part of a program that helps inner city kids obtain scholarships to attend prep schools, and they use this poem as their motto. :-) Paul, I feel that you have been living by the principles expressed by "Invictus" ... even though at times you may not feel like you are mastering our fate, if you face the trials unafraid, the spirit will prevail. Reminds me of one of the songs I used to sing with the choir ... God the Lord thy God sayeth unto thee, Be not afraid! Hugs, Michelle, "Invictus" may be from the Victorian era, but it still inspires today. Yeah the change things is essential, but scarry as hell. I'm the most peaceful when I see every little thing, even the negative ones, as essential and in some mysterious way getting me to where the heck it is I'm headed. It sounds like you're learning a lot and even if you don't apply the knowledge at this very moment I guarantee that you'll find an opportunity soon. I'm excited for you. Remember "Many strokes overthrow the tallest oaks." Oh, I finally had a Cooper's beer and found it to be exceptionally tasty! I'l be brewing my own soon. If it could be half that delicious! Wish me luck. Hello to everyone. I haven't read anyone's post but Paul's; I apologize. Just remember that I mean it when I say that you're all in my thoughts. I hope to get back in the loop soon. Hi PC, Timster: you can email/phone call me at any time you need me. I'll speak to the docs I work with about Kadian (long acting Morphine) & the Xanax (antianxiolytic) if you wish. Linda: Lidocaine transdermal patch has been available for several years. First used to address PHN: Post Herpatic Neuralgia from Shingles (VZV) virus. As you stated, it is site specific, that is, you place the patch at the pain site. It cannot be placed over any open lesions from Shingles though. PHP can last for a very long time after the lesions have healed because nerve pain can be difficult to treat. Gran Mil: Congrats on your show, not that I'm surprised!! Love to E. C. HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY TO ALL!! Kiss more, hug tighter, linger longer. Till next time PC: Head up, elbows high, feet moving forward. Life often hands people like that(or perhaps our soul does that) more and more growth opportunities. It seems that you are seeing that to some degree. In my country, we call them afges- another f'n growth experience. I just feel that if you stay open and have some the faith as Joseph in a higher power. It will be revealed to you oh man of substance and intelligence. If you're a thinker, and obviously you are, traditional religion can turn you off, but it isn't this universals intelligences fault. It's religions fault. I feel religion has and still does cause a lot of trouble for God. And by the way, I know you are not going to hell - if indeed there is such a place as has been described. Earth is a school of growth and I feel so is the other side going higher and higher in the growth scale. Perhaps that's what is meant when Jesus said my fathers house has many mansions-levels of development. Well my dear keep the faith and happy valentines day. You are in my thoughts. Knowing all the best for you and that amazing sour. Joan from the otherside of downunder. P.S. I curious is Mercurio of Greek or Italian derivation? But with a little fancy footwork from you, I know you will bounce back. Tim: Hang in there, take the advice of others who have posted. Get the low down on the meds you are taking and see what can be done about the interactions and your reactions. Keep Tapping and loving those kids. Evelyn: Congrats on the job(Jobs). I can't imagine working two jobs, every one I have had so drained me mentally and physically that there was no way I could do 2. I don't count the years I spent as a Tupperware consultant while holding down an 9 - 9 job. Dhi: Good to know that you are still full of advice and wisdom for all that need it. Peter: The Wise, send some heat to Texas, like Inn, I may be fat and white, but I ain't no polar bear. I've been freezing for 4 days. The sun is shining today, but too cold and windy to enjoy it. High today in the low 50's, a regular heat wave compared to the 28's and 30's all week. As for the rest of the group: Glad to read that you are still here and cheering each other on down that journey of LIFE. Tax season is upon us once again and that means lots of late nights and overtime. What with the raise I got on my January Check will make things nice and maybe I can get our trip to Tempe,AZ paid off before we head to NO and Tampa Christmas '04. Best wishes to Paul, Andrea and girls, I know you will be Okay, you always do what you have to do and we will support you all the way. Hugs to all Joan, I thought Sour was quite good actually! Mercurio is Sicilian. My Grandfather was from Palermo. I went back there touring with Sydney Dance Company back in the early 80's and loved it although I was a little concerned about being approached about an old family debt - if you know what I mean.... I KNOW the universe has something wonderful in store for you. Serendipity has lead you before. Thanks, Janice, for your comments on the Lidocaine patch. I must build up lower muscles and nerves to walk somewhat normally again. And the patch does help the discomfort of the process. Peter...I hear ya' about back pain - you get through one day and then the next. Keep well. A somewhat late happy valentine's day to the Corner. Linda Posted by: Linda Thomas on February 15, 2004 11:30 AMfrom IP: 67.172.80.183Joan, very well put! Paul, every new day is a new opportunity. Opportunity for what??? Who knows... that's for YOU to find out :) But to be less vague... an opportunity to live, love, and learn. Opportunities when grasped, will lead to these things. New paths, new people, new experiences. Yes everyone, I guess it's true, as most of you know. One receives what one needs, not what one necessarily wants. Guess what... it can suck... a LOT. Acceptance is hard (especially for myself). It's just a matter of playing the cards your dealt the best way you can. Easier said than done ofcourse, but effective. Grasp opportunities! Take a different path! Learn something new! You're all in my thoughts. Stay strong, and keep the faith! :) Posted by: Jonathan on February 15, 2004 05:19 PMfrom IP: 199.126.50.157Here's a quote that might be appropriate (since it's around V-day and all) "One can give without loving, but one can't love without giving" Posted by: Jonathan on February 15, 2004 05:23 PMfrom IP: 199.126.50.157Hello everyone!! SO sorry i haven't been around for a while. Thought I'd pop in and catch up, although i've been kept up-to-date by the wonderful Grandma Milly. Anyway, I hope to speak to you all soon! Again, I'm sorry for staying away so long, things have been busy here. Lots of love and sunshine-filled hugs, Hannah* Hope everyone is having/had a good weekend. Evelyn, I was delighted to hear the good news about the interview and also about the inner calm that you have reached. Hope it all continues to work out in whatever way is best for you. Hi Michelle, the poem strikes a chord of solidness and security deep down. It conjured up an image of a lighthouse built on a solid rock in the middle of a stormy sea! While I think of it, you mentioned a poet called Rilke a while ago. Is there a book of poetry you would recommend by him? He is mentioned a good few times in a book I treasure and I would like to explore him a little. I was looking over the chapter on the advanced soul in Michael Newton's book again. Check out page 184 and the reference to spirit guides/fear. I think you'll find it interesting after what you said in the last thread about your guide not making an appearance. Joan and Jonathan, well said - both of you. Hannah and Sherrlyn, it's nice to meet you. Tim, I hope things are a bit better for you. You remain in my thoughts. Peter, hope you are well and that Monday morning has not been too much of a shock to the system! Best wishes to you Millie.Hope you are having a really good day so far. Hi Paul, I wish you a really good day today. Hello to Inn, Katalina, Janice, Marge, Whit, Linda, Diane, Julie, Cara, Nertha and Natalie. Love to everyone, Paul..how gracious of you to include me in your post. Thank you. This day to day shit can be for the birds. It's truly hard to keep a positive perspective when everything else seems so harsh and against you. Like today I've had 3 different mood swings, hugged my wife and told her I loved her and she was the only person that cared for me and I cared for and then five minutes ago told her I wanted a divorce, b/c her family is planning our vacation again this year. B/c we're too poor to do ourselves. It's pride. I guess I still have some. Self esteem NO. Something to change the subject a bit. I watched Unfaithful on cable the other night..it must have been a Richard Gere special, 1st An Officer and a Gentlemen, which I love the ending and then Unfaithful. Is it just me or does anyone else see a resemblence between Paul and Diane Lanes lover in that movie? Maybe it's just the hair, but it's another example to me of where Paul could have made some money. Oh and Paul I hope I didn't offend earlier when I suggested television...it was just a thought..Kind of like consulting for me. Whit good to see you on the board again. Thanks again to everyone for their concern. I'm swimming as Paul said. Here we go again. But hey Paul I know you'll do a fabulous job. You have a great support system. Andrea cares for you unlike my wife. My wife's interest is based on whether or not I succumb to religious legalism. So you hang in there. Pursue your brewery. Peace and love to everyone on the corner. May the force be with you. Hi Paul, Just to note, I haven't been on in awhile b/c the C drive died on me late last week and this is the first morning I have been on the computer since. I told grandma millie that I'd let her know when all was fixed. Here I am MIllie! I still can't use my e-mail but hopefully it will be running in a few days. Millie and Elliot invited me for lunch last Monday and it was so delightful. Millie showed me her lastest creation for Sights and Sounds as we spoke about politics and showbiz. I feel fortunate to be one of the few PCer's that has had the opportunity to meet MIllie and Elliot in person. Paul, It was while eating lunch with Millie and Elliot that I found out about your situation Paul (since the computer died a few days before the news of TFM). I regret this happened to you and the rest of the cast. I know how much this meant for you getting back into the line of work that you truly enjoy. I've experience plenty of the unpredictable and chaotic ways of the universe especially when it manages to block the path that I inteded to stay on. I hate giving advice b/c I'm terrible at it, but in times like these I think it's best to remember the one thing that really keeps you alive, that keeps your spirits going. Give that wonderful wife and children of yours a big hug and you'll feel better about everything. Greetings to all! Julie Hi everyone! Hope all is well with each of you. So, till I get back, Paul and everyone else - take good care. Love to you all, Hi, Mary! I hope you have a wonderful time with your friend. I went back and read page 184. Now who would have guessed that fear is a problem for spirit guides?:) I'd forgotten that passage, thanks for reminding me. I do remember the poem by Rilke, but it was used in a book called A Year by the Sea, not an actual anthology. The woman who wrote it used it at the beginning of a chapter if I remember correctly. I've never read Illusions, but it's on my list. I've heard so many good things about it. Inn, I'll be thinking of you as the week goes on. I hope it flies by and that you get great relief from the shot. Good energy to you! Lots of love to all the Corner! Michelle Posted by: Michelle on February 17, 2004 02:53 AMfrom IP: 24.14.248.67Hi Paul, I just wrote you, but somehow I lost it. Thank you for your reply. As you can tell by my name I am also Italian - at least on my father's side. His family came from a farming community outside of Naples. After going there, I can see why they left. The place could use some paint. My mother's father came from Ireland. God help us-though they were never dull, loud but not dull. It's a funny thing about Italians at least here and in Italy. There is some kind of a strange bond. If I meet an Italian, even and Italian American, you're already accepted immediately. Kind of nice. The Irish don't seem to be so much that way. I do pray you will find something soon. Things are going to be alright. Last year at this time over a three month period I lost my mom,(mum), my beloved animal companion and my job. Now, I got my job back, I can feel my mother's strong protective presence and involvement in my life, and a little stray kitten showed up in my backyard looking a lot like my beloved Philip even with the same coloring - orange and white. Thought for the day: When you feel like you are at the end of your rope tie a knot and HANG ON! Love and Light, Joan from the other side of downunder. P.S. Let's see if this will get through cause I'm not writing it again. Posted by: joan derosa on February 17, 2004 05:41 AMfrom IP: 4.72.105.136Hi Paul, I just wrote you, but somehow I lost it. We do not always agree with each other, but that is safe for us to do here as well. I receive and hopefully give unconditional love, respect, and acceptance on PC, & I cannot say that about anywhere else in my life. I'm still freezing my royal butt off in New York. I can't wait for 20th of March. COME ON SPRING!! I'm loving you all, PC. Elbows up, head high, and feet moving forward. Dear Timmer, Thank you for your comments about your mom. It really does continue to hurt, however, she is so much better off than where she was a year ago. Thank you for your concern. Joan I guess now I have e-mailed my second person I have never me. Read Janice's post. she says it all so well! Since this site first opened, we have become a family, and true friendships have blossomed. I, personally, the Grandma Mil (or Queen Mum, self appointed) have had the honor of speaking on the phone to many, and have had the honor of meeting, in person, two beautiful young women, Whitney and Julie. Whitney flew down to Florida to meet my husband and me during the week of our 50th wedding anniversary, and the opening of my show, "Follies 2003"...it's almost a year ago, Whit, can you believe it? Then, last week, Julie came to spend a morning with us, and we enjoyed her company so much! She happens to live about a half hour from us, and through this site, we were able to contact each other! I will mention again how huggable and precious these two are in person! I speak on the phone to Whit, Evelyn, Margie in California, and have sent my homemade cards to others on PC when I have their email addresses. Then, I have gone international, with phone calls to Hannah in England, and Mary in Ireland! (I believe that if you knew Mary, your views about the Irish would drastically change...just read her marvelous posts!) I hope you now understand now how easy it was on the site to open our hearts and express our thoughts because it was Paul who showed us the way, and for that we are eternally grateful. My dear Timmer, you are welcome to visit your Auntie Mil anytime! The flowers are bloomin', the pool water is warm, and I'm still sweating it out at the ladies' gym! Peace and love, Grandma AKA Auntie Mil, Queen Mum, or whatever... I'm ticked. I wrote a whole post and lost it somehow. I hit a wrong key and the whole dang thing got lost. So here's a quick sumation... I love you too, dear Innussiq, and I want to let you know that I had a cortisone shot in my painful right knee about 3 months ago, and I have been pain free since! The shot itself was a breeze...just shut your eyes, and think of all of us,and you'll get through it quickly! The anticipation is always worse...just put on "Strictly Ballroom" for some diversion before you go to the doctor. Remind him to be gentle or he'll have to answer to all of us, and we can be a feisty bunch if pushed! Love you, Queen Mum Posted by: Grandma Mil on February 18, 2004 01:56 AMfrom IP: 67.75.94.62Had to check back in. Seems I have more reading to do before I catch up. It was a thrill to meet you in person dear Mil and I hope to see you again soon. I hope others can meet you somehow. You're my angel. Everyone hang in there. Sounds like a little bit of hardship is upon us. Timmer I hope you'll write and fill me in if you feel like talking. I'll try to read old posts and find out what's going on with you sweetie. This is a wonderful place and when I found it I read old posts that made me feel I could speak my mind with an open heart. The support I've gotten from this wonderful, diverse crowd is miraculous. It seems the corner is populated with wise and caring folks. A great day to all!
Welcome to the club! Suck it up, Paulie! Claire Posted by: Claire on February 18, 2004 11:08 PMfrom IP: 207.239.14.37Ah, just read the previous thread. Bummer on the cancelation Paul. But look on the bright side; it would have been hell to be seperated from your family that long. I've often thought that would be the downside to a relationship with an actor. Which reminds me of a comment I read in an earlier post to this thread suggesting you head to America. That may not be what's required ( I know you don't want to leave), but no matter what anyone tries to do career wise, success is often based on our willingness to do whatever it takes to make it happen. I still recommend the book by Dr Dyer: "You'll See It When You Believe It.". Please read it. He addresses that issue. Well enough of my mollycoddling, Hi Whit I left the salon today. No more!!. I've got an interview tomorrow with a consulting firm and hopefully something will come of it also a couple of more in the works. I'm just going to temp for awhile in a place that pays really well and through an agency where I get benefits. Still doing my clients on the side and looking for a place to open a shop near my home and start doing some work out of it and slowly work into my OWN place. Or maybe I'll like being back in accounting who knows.. This is a great corner of love and support. Love to everyone and don't give up Paul. You're just in a really TOUGH profession but you have made it and you have contacts so work em mate. Give em hell and rock on to your next adventure. To everyone else..another group hug. Gab and Claire, I hope you come back and enjoy meeting all of the wonderful people here at Paul's Corner. We're a very accepting, nurturing, and supportive group, which is generally reflected in our posts. Your posts were interesting...another way to go I guess. Janice, I hope you're warming up a bit in NY. It actually broke 40 here! I heard the birds chirping! Winter might come back to haunt us, be we have hope now that Spring will come eventually. More daylight makes a huge difference for me. Lots of love to you all! Paul, I hope all is well with you and yours. Peace, Dear Timmer, We're all relieved that you are so much better! Yes, those medicines have terrible side effects with many contraindications having to do with certain foods and liquor, for sure. I mentioned the MAOs, and Michelle asked also, but I'm not sure if those are used for bipolar. Anyway, our love and best wishes are with you! Whit, good to have you back...we missed you! Inn, it's Friday. Are you okay after your procedure? Thinking of you! Love and Peace, Grandma Hi Timster, There are 2 types of bipolar: As far as the side effects, none of us would take aspirin or tylenol after reading the potential negatives of these meds. As long as the benefit outweighs the risk, take it. When the risk outweighs the benefit, then reassess the need to continue it. Michelle: It's warming up a bit, but still cold and windy at times. If I could option the winter season, I'd be a happy girl!! Inn: Healing thoughts to you today. Whit: I'm glad you're doing well with your jobs. Hoping your sister is OK. Mary: Many blessing upon you. I have a gallery of her gorgeous black and white Timmer, you hang in there, and take the meds. It's a new world we live in. Vivien's fault was she was born too soon! Your loving Auntie Mil Posted by: Grandma Mil on February 20, 2004 11:33 PMfrom IP: 67.75.81.87Thanks to all the well wishers. I got my shot, just one thank goodness. It's a bit sore and burning now but everything went well considering. I got some confusing medical info, the ortho thinks that it may actually be a back problem as he noted that my reflexes on the right side..well basically don't exist. You know when they hit you on the knee with the little hammer? My leg doesn't move. Could be nerve damage, but I don't feel any more pain then I usually do. Weird huh? I guess it's just more wait and see. Good to hear your good news Inn... I'm on Lamictril, Depakote, Lotrel, Zoloft and Xanax. How's that for a chemical cocktail??? I had an interview thismorning. Looks like I stand a very good chance of being placed on a contract next week. GREAT pay and this firm offers benefits. Even on a blah blah blah Atlanta day like today...it's not looking so bad.
