come to your senses
What is your most important sense? Note: comments on old entries are closed. Please comment only on the current entry. Comments I guess you mean like smell, touch, sight, etc. That would be my sight. Without my glasses I am totally blind so I know the importance of vision. If I drop my glasses I have to have another pair to find the pair I dropped! Good question. Can I say all of them, I find them all pretty useful and I'd be lost with out them. One of the important ones to me is touch, to touch or to be touched (which isn't often)! I'd best stop there :) Posted by: Kim (UK) on July 6, 2004 01:30 AMfrom IP: 81.131.112.146My feelings and instincts, but it pretty much depends on the situation as well, like Kim said, I wouldn't want to miss out on any of them, since I draw on them in different ways and they come to the forefront individually and collectively at different times. Posted by: Mary on July 6, 2004 06:38 AMfrom IP: 83.70.42.82most important sense is definately sight. sense of right and wrong, sense of compassion. with regard to 5 senses, perhaps smell is most important, as it's linked to memory and processing information. smell is also directly linked to sense of taste. Posted by: texas on July 6, 2004 12:02 PMfrom IP: 24.239.144.17Intuition. Following your gut instinct My sense of Self, Who I Am. Once again, Mary and I are sharing a brain! Michelle Posted by: Michelle on July 7, 2004 02:04 AMfrom IP: 24.14.248.67My sight....I would hate not to be able to see this world and my husband and children. Posted by: Abeth on July 7, 2004 03:33 AMfrom IP: 128.220.113.100SIGHT. Seeing...my dog's tail wagging, my lover smiling, my roses blooming, my football team winning, my words spreading across a page.... Jennifer in California Posted by: Jennifer on July 7, 2004 02:11 PMfrom IP: 64.136.27.226Physical senses aside, I would say my sense of self-worth. It is an element of the psyche that we can easily lose sight of and forget our value, causing us to spiral into dismay. This projects strongly to those around us and rebounds back with more undermining negatives. I hold true the proverb “To love others we must first learn to love ourselves” Tip: Begin the day by considering your greatest achievements and should some of the blunders creep in, as they do, register them as nodes in the learning curve … then shine and life usually shines back. (It only takes a couple of seconds, the brain’s terribly quick at clocking this sort of thing). What’s yours? Physical sense: my most important is my hearing. I'd just as soon die as not hear my baby giggling incessantly, my beloved's heartbeat, or any music for the rest of my life. I've seen enough, already in this world. I'd happily go blind, lose my taste/touch/smell over losing my ability to listen. Other: My sense of knowing when enough is enough. When to quit, as it were. "Only a fool tries the same method over and over and yet expects a different outcome." Peace, (i was going to say "common" too..lol) I think sight, touch...for me..
Sense of timing. (This I guess could also be called common sense.) Whether it is dance, music I take that back. A sense of timing in dance and music is a gift of God, but a sense of timing in saying something to someone is common sense. Saying the wrong thing at the wrong time can destroy a person or saying the right thing at the right time can make someones day, lift their spirits and yours. I guess that would be think before you speak - that takes timing. Posted by: Jo(In Texas) on July 9, 2004 09:53 PMfrom IP: 64.243.68.215Sense of right and wrong, sense of dignity, the sense to listen to others I like the idea of uncommon sense - to do that which you would or may not normally do but sense that it is the right time to do something differently and perhaps unusually Posted by: Paul on July 10, 2004 09:04 AMfrom IP: 210.49.176.124Paul, got anything particular in mind for the doing something differently or unusually? Using uncommon sense sure opens up a whole new set of doors or a whole new can of worms. Posted by: Evelyn on July 10, 2004 11:15 AMfrom IP: 128.101.248.239Haven't been here in ages so a big hello to everyone and Paul hope you are all well :) Most important sense?? in terms of the five senses: it would have to be either my hearing or my vision, i don't know if i could live without seeing the world, my eyesight's pretty bad as it is so i think i'd like to hold on to the little that i have!but i know i could definitely not live without hearing music and the voices of the people&the world around me. I would also not like to lose my sense of morality or sense of humour :) Hi everyone, It's been a LONG time since I've posted, so hello again to everyone! I would say touch is the most important to me. It has so many different variations - you can comfort, show affection and so much more. (I can also use it to turn on my Strictly Ballroom video, which I have done tonight!) Hahaha! Have a great day! Carol xoxo Posted by: Carol Sullivan on July 11, 2004 02:32 PMfrom IP: 65.93.126.133Hello all! I would have to say my sense of being connected to everyone one on this planet. Let me explain... I have always been one to see every side of the picture(situation) by doing so it can be overwhelming and I turn inward, feeling as though I am alone when all others break out into rash arguments and discriminations. Dancing and writing it down my feelings in solitude grounds me, then remebering that we all feel similary at sometime or another is when feeling/sensing part of the human family becomes so clear... IF that makes any sense. @>->---- Posted by: Stephanie on July 12, 2004 08:53 AMfrom IP: 4.7.221.49Stephanie, Dhi Posted by: Dhi on July 17, 2004 03:13 AMfrom IP: 64.132.54.59Paul, I'm big on one's sense of integrity ... ... but, if you're refering to the 5 senses, it would definitely be "sight". To not see colors, a smile from a loved one, or if trouble is ahead would be devistating ... Posted by: Victoria Rupley Dungca on July 22, 2004 10:36 PMfrom IP: 205.230.132.253I would have to say my sense of balance.... literally.... my vestibular (inner ear) is most likely permanently damaged, and daily I wish that it would work. I suppose it is an amusing disorder, as I can't stand up while putting my pants on without falling over! Sorry to tune in late on this one. Had surgery on my head last month, and am doing ok.... wish I had some hair though! Sorry I am late to respond! Sounds like you have been busy. Posted by: Suzanne on July 27, 2004 11:57 AMfrom IP: 67.64.204.75Hi Suzanne! Good to hear from you. I hope you continue to do well after the surgery. Healing thoughts to you.
