Tattoo

Gidday Guys!!! Yes I have been busy and I hate to admit it but I have completed our third series of DWTS without even mentioning here once.

I have actually been spending a fair amount of time on another forum..... It is a beer forum so please dont be jealous, they are not interested in funks or poems or some of the more deeper aspects of life instead we discuss the longevity of cracked grain, fermentation temperatures and the affect of hot days, how to build fermentation fridges and what yeast is best suited to what beers etc. I have been doing a fair bit of brewing with my new 'all grain' brewing system (mashing system) developing and researching my own recipes for Mercs Own Brewing Company's next beer. Sadly that means I am also having to sample lots of beers which then means I have to go to the gym which means less time to get on PC!! Rest assured PC is never far from my mind!

I have also been busy with my Mum visiting for a couple of weeks, then Andreas Mum for a few days then my sister - out from Vermont - for several weeks, then I went away for a work function for a few days!!!! My sister comes back for antoher week and then I go away for a couple of days over the next few weeks.

Things are good at the moment - well lets face it in a lot of ways things are always good just sometimes you spend a little bit of time looking at the things you dont like and would like to change and thus the funk decends. I could talk about a few things that arent going the way I would like, I could talk about some of my plans that have gone south, I could talk about the frustrations I currently feel regarding quite a few things but I cant be bothered! I can talk about my relief that all are well after the hurricanes that have swept through the US. I would like to welcome the newbies that posted on the last post - yes Vivienne I read the posts and some times even reply! :)

As often I think about posts I would like to make but once thought through and written in my head I move on from them. You can probably tell I am on the go - the energy is surging and I have quite abit to do today. I need to listen to some music as I am choreographing a waltz tonight for a group of people who will be dancing at a fund raiser I am a part of next Sat. I need to clean out some kegs and then fill them with two beers I have brewed - 1 an apricot wheat beer and 2 a peach ale. I need to make the usual phone calls and emails and then think about what to cook for dinner (got to cook early as I will be out for the evening and I dont want my wife going hungry!).

Oh my daughter Elise had to be rushed off to hospital last week to have her appendix out!! It was all unexpected! The charity event I went to Perth for last week was for Ronald Mcdonald House - where people with kids suffering from cancer can live and get support whilst they are going through their treatment. We raised $375000 on the night!! I visited the house on the morning of the event and met a wonderful 6 year old boy called Ben. His mother told me that they rushed him off to hospital with a suspected appendix but instead found a stomach full of tumours! How fragile life can be and how quickly can it all change. I thought that could just as easily have been Elise. Ben is doing well and they are awaiting the news of how successful the treatment has been - I wish him well! Elise is fine, it will take a little bit of time for her to get back to 100% but she is on the way.

I have raved enough! I must get back to work. You may wonder why the title of this post is Tattoo? Well I am looking for a drawing that I am considering to get as a tattoo. I am looking for a really colourful Pheonix Rising picture and I was hoping you guys might be able to help me find one. A Pheonix rising from the ashes.

By the way does anyone know how many tattoos I currently have?

Hi Paul,

Wonderful post. You sound energized. I truly believe your brewing venture will bring you financial security.

Do you have 5 tattoos?

Paul...It is lovely to read your upbeat thread! Kudos to you with regard to the fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House. That facility provides a wonderful respite for the families of sick children. My professional organization has contributed a great deal of time and effort in making various Houses a home away from home. We have also worked on Suite Dreams an organization that designs beautiful bedrooms for children with serious health issues. In those times of stress, a nuturing environment helps everyone.

Keep well.

I would assume you know how many tattoos you have, Paul! :-) okay that was a bit cheeky, but the first thing that came to mind, and I really have no clue, but I guess 2 or 3.

Best wishes to Elise for a full recovery! Hope it didn't hurt to much for her.

You are right about there always / often being something funk-triggering out there, but that there also is a lot of good out there to hold on to and to focus on.

Happy beer brewing too!

I think I'm going back to watching the first snow fall that's taking place out there right now. I just wish it hadn't rained earlier today because that's now turned into a solid layer of ice.

Stay safe everyone and have fun!

okay one more thing, re. designs for phoenix rising from ashes. I just went to google.com and did an image search with that phrase. There's all sorts of images coming up that could inspire you for your tatoo design, granted, some of them probably won't lend themselves well for a tatoo, but that's for you to decide. Happy searching/ googeling/designing!

Get ready, I'm going to cuss!
DAMN! You sound great Paul! Keep that energy surge going and going like the energizer bunny! I love to hear you sounding strong.

Wow! That's amazing about Elise. So scary. You sound like such a good husband and father, if I may say so. I hope she's feeling like her old self ASAP.

I would give anything to taste some of your brews. But now that summer is over, I cut out beer from my routine, or I'll plump up over the winter. Can't have that! Will revisit the Corona's next spring. But I have to admit, I tasted a Sam Adams Winter Lager the other day. Not too bad.

Very happy to hear of all of your activities lately. A little family, a little work, a little beer...what more could you ask for?

We will get jealous if you spend too much time with your beer buddies, though.

How does it feel to have extra women pulling on your time??

Don't stay away too long!

Love

Hello, Paul.

So glad to see you so excited about so many things. Hope Elise is doing well. Kids are much more resilient when it comes to healing than we adults seem to be, so I'm sure she's well on the way to recovery.

Wonderful to hear you have so many projects to work on. Being busy is good, especially when it brings in some much needed money.

You are so lucky to have such a close family. I'm sure everyone had a great visit.

I've had peach beer and have enjoyed very much. Any chance of your Merc's Own coming over here to America?

I think at last count, we figured you had at least 5 tatoos. I could cheat and go back to the post where you described them all, but I'll be good.

Evelyn,

Snow already? I'm not looking forward to that aspect of winter at all.

Big wave to Mary across the pond. Hope all is well.

Grandma Mil, Peter, hope all is well with you.

Hey out to all the newbies. Thinking of all you "oldies", as always. Haven't seen too many here of late. Hope all is well.

Take care,
Sally C.

Please note I did not cook dinner for my wife tonight! Got too busy and left before I could. Just wanted you to know so that no one thinks I am too good a husband - good for my wife to fend for herself dont want her taking me for granted:) - now that is going to get her goat!!!!!

Posted by: Paul on November 16, 2005 07:06 PMfrom IP: 220.237.37.184

Oh good, sounds like you're outta your funk. Those are no fun.

I hope your daughter is doing well. Kids do bounce back quicker than us "older folks". Best wishes on that front.

A friend of mine is going to try smuggling some of your beer back into the states for me. I don't know where Sally C. lives. If you're in california, I'd be happy to share a bottle....

Godd wishes to all,

o.k. I'm going to cuss again....

Damn you Paul. You owe your wife dinner now!

j/k ;)

Most of us would be lucky to have a meal cooked by our hubbies..

Let me think..If I can remember back that long...my first husband never cooked..but I loved being domestic for him.

My second loved to cook, but still wasn't worth all his other problems. Sorry to sound cynical.

I don't think I would try marriage again, but if you find someone nice to cook for me, maybe I'll let him visit.

Crap..I barely cook for myself.

It's a beautiful brisk day here in the Denver area! It's making me feisty! lol

Have a fabulous day everyone. :)

Paul
Regarding your tatoo's. 5 or 6 i think, but I won't cheat for now.

Glad to hear that Elise had a speedy recovery. Didn't she turn 16 this year? Has she started driving? Another concern for Dads.

Take care, love to all,

Hey Paul and Co

I'm new here in posting but I've been hanging around for a little while, so I hope I can get to know you all better. Paul, I was going to post in your "negative run" post when you put it up because I was having a negative run too but It turned out to be too long and I couldn't be botherd re-reading it, but thanks for giving me reason to vent! Haha, it did me good, I was alot more relaxed the next day.

Anyway, I heard about your daughter when you mentioned her on DWTS, I do hope she's okay, how painful, I've never had my appendix taken out but it looks quite..hurtful. I'm 16 too, well I just turned 17, so I still say I'm 16 but quickly correct myself..like I just did...ps. I tend to go off in tangents.

Oh and I won't cheat by saying I knew you had 5 tattoos, I actually didn't think you had any at all, but I love pheonix's and what they symbolise so great choice, I tried looking up designs on google but at one point got a tonne of pictures of naked people..so unless you wanted porn tattoed on you I wouldn't suggest delving too far into the uncertain pages of google. But they do have some okay designs.

I'm sorry I'm afraid this will be a pretty long post too...just going to say I was reading through your older blogs and I noticed that you Choreographed some school in their musical production of "Guys and Dolls" which is a coincidence because we're also going to be putting that on for our school musical (finally, we haven't had a musical in years.) we don't have a choreographer yet so you know if by some amazing miracle you decided you wanted to choreograph a highschool and weren't busy in any way you could always choreograph us.. *sends brainwashing signals over the computer to Paul* I did actually jokingly suggest it to my teacher (who's the producer) and she said "oh that'd be great, do you know how to get in touch with him?" to which I replied "no...I was kidding.." It was terrible, you know when you make jokes and people think you're serious and then you have to let them down..yeah OKAY -

- Well, I've blabbed enough just wanted to say it's great to see you out of your funk, in relation to your post about strangers commenting on your weight; I think you should carry around a stereo with "I'm too sexy" by Right Said Fred on at full volume on repeat. Nuff said.

xx Anna

Paul how does distribution in the USA sound,,,would like to talk about it,,,,,Washington DC area,,,,

Posted by: fred on November 18, 2005 12:07 AMfrom IP: 64.12.116.196

Welcome Anna! What school are you from? Let your teacher know that I would love to choreograph for you guys (and dolls) but I am a little too busy at the moment! I am going to Sydney to shoot a day on a movie, do some meetings and a function of two. Then home again and then away again the next week for the same thing. Good luck with it all.

Fred love distribution in the States but am focusing on getting the beer strong here first! Once Mercs Own Brewing Company is well established in Australia then I will look at conquering the world!

Marge, Elise is not driving yet but is looking at getting her learners permit soon - god help me!! I let her drive down our street occassionally she does okay and will get better! It is going to happen so I am going along with the ride!

Posted by: Paul on November 18, 2005 06:10 AMfrom IP: 220.237.37.184

Thanks. I go to Chatswood High School. It's up in Sydney's North, I'll pass on the message to my teacher, and if any day you feel like dropping by and you're in the area you'd be more than welcome. Good luck with your tattoo finding, and keeping busy.

Ps. What movie are you working on? Sorry, you might not be able to disclose that information...oh well, had to ask.

Dear Paul and co.,

Today it wasn´t exactly my day,so after moving from one room to another without being able to go to sleep,i decided to read Paul´s corner so that i could get some positive feeling.
You know?I love working in Musicals(i think i told i´m a singer of musicals in Madrid in other posts)but i just started working as an agressive "headhunter"(i just finished psychology and a master in Human resources)...and i´m having this kind of personal crisis because i realized that there is something which is missed in my life...and that´s the feeling of being in the stage(lately i´ve been without being on a stage for some months...)and i think i´m not able to be working for more than 8 hours per day in a place where i don´t feel i belong to...don´t know...
I want to apologize to you all, because i´m just a spanish girl, living my life far away from you (who live in Australia or USA)and bothering you with my stressful life and feelings when you are speaking and thinking about another business...(i apologize for my grammar in english as well)...well,it looks like it´s my "apologizing-day"...
Sometimes i feel i want to leave my life in Spain,my boyfriend, career and friends and go abroad to spend the rest of my life,to think about my own necesities(as i did a year ago...i went to study to Norway...).
What should i do with my life?i feel so lost, stress and tired...don´t know.
Thanx a lot to let me expressing my feelings in here.Hope you can give me some positive energy to decide...
Best wishes,
Isabel

What should I do?

Posted by: isabel(madrid) on November 21, 2005 06:16 AMfrom IP: 213.0.209.152

Dear Isabel,

My first piece of advice would be to acknowledge and to express your feelings, which I believe you are already doing and then after expressing your frustration letting it go, if you can.

Secondly, hang in there and try to wait this out until you see some direction taking shape.

Third, let your emotions calm down and you should begin to see some clarity. Sometimes you have to make decisions when you are in turmoil, but if you can wait for things to calm down, I think you are better able to make decisions that affect your life on so many levels as you express.

Four, explore your options seriously, esp. if you are thinking of living in another country. You might be surprised by how many complications and unexpected challenges that brings your way, personally, culturally, financially, legally—the amount of legal things you have to go through with immigration (if that’s an issue) can be overwhelming [I’m in the middle of it right now, so I know what I’m talking about]. But on the other hand, it is a wonderfully enriching experience as well that I wouldn’t want to miss out on. Just make sure that you don’t glorify “the other country” as only good-it’s very tempting to villanize the place you are in and associate all the stress and frustration with it and escape from the problems by dreaming or fantasizing about the “other, better, foreign place.” It’s so easy to fall into that either-or trap, so just watch out for that.

And most importantly, be aware of your needs and take them seriously and act upon them. I know, financial security is important in our world, but emotional health and spiritual well-being should never come at the expense of it and it sounds that it does for you.

I wish you well, Isabel, from the bottom of my heart that you will find your way, find the employment that will bring you the joy that you find when performing on stage, that you can use the learning and skills you got from your degree and perhaps that you can find a way of combining both of them into a wonderful career. Don’t forget to dream, but don’t forget to be realistic as well.

Love to you,
Evelyn

Posted by: Evelyn on November 21, 2005 11:12 AMfrom IP: 69.24.175.36

Isabel your post is wonderfully sweet because it reminds me how human we all are and many with the same feelings and events.
I'm sure you will find your way. I don't mean to be vague but each of us must go through what you're going thru, it defines us. Someone asked awhile ago on another message board what the meaning of life is, and I said, "I think it's to find a meaning."
I'm sure Grandma Mil, Paul and of course Evelyn (as I see she has already done) will come to you with more practical advice. Whatever the case, I wish you all the best.

Paul, you sound well. I'm glad :) I am always glad though to see when you've posted but when you sound in good spirits I'm even happier (for you) :)

I've never posted here (I've been a fan for a while, but only just found the site) but I wanted to send my best wishes to your daughter, Elise; stomach scars stink. I was 14 & they thought my appendix had burst rushed me in for emergency surgery. Come to find out I had a massive infection in my intestines, requiring chunks of it be sniped out. The staple they hooked everything back together with *still* sets off airport security systems, lol.

I'm betting Elise won't be doing any sit-ups anytime soon. Tell her to watch out for adhesions & wound infections, & that once it quits being tender she can wear hip-huggers again, never fear.

Paul, have you ever seen "Blue Collar Comedy Tour"? You'd probably enjoy Bill Engvall's take on when his 16 year old daughter started driving.

Regards,
Megan

P.S. The real question is not how many tattoos you have, but where they are located. Personally, I have no idea on either.

Posted by: Megan Ariells on November 21, 2005 01:49 PMfrom IP: 209.216.183.157

I second Evelyn's post as it is gives you much to think on and work towards. One thing I may add Isabel is are you able to join an amature musical group - I know you have worked professionally in musical but whilst you have a full time job you could perhaps join a small amature group and still be invloved in putting on productions. Often these groups are filled with people just like yourself - people busy earning a living but not being completely fulfilled by their job. Maybe in the short term you could do this and your work until things become more clear to you in which direction you want to go. Good Luck!

Hello Isabel,

I read your posts all the time and I'm sorry to hear you are in such turmoil. I've noticed that a lot of creative people in my life go through the same indecisions you are facing now, and after much struggling, they do find what they need and are happy. Although I have no words of wisdom to give you, I can keep you in my thoughts and prayers and hope you can find your way to happiness.

Be well.

HI everyone!

It's been awhile since I've been on the corner and I have a lot of catching up to do with everyone...

Did Michelle go to Irland and see Mary and what happened to Mr. Squeeky?

Where's our Queen Millie?

Will I eventually see Merc's own served at our local pub Waxy O Conners in Fort Lauderdale Florida?

Isabel, I sympathize with your situation. I've changed careers several times in the past ten years and I also spend seven years getting a university degree and not finding any employment. Finding the work you love takes risk and an open mind to new possibilities. But rest assure many people are in the same boat you are.

I'm not about to make an exact estimate of how many tattoos Paul has or where they are. I'll just let my imagination run wild on this one.

I have a profile on a site called Myspace where I work on my writing. Anyone is welcomed to come on down to visit.

just copy and past this like on your URL.

take care everyone,

and Grandma Millie I'll give you a call today!

To Paul,

Thank you. It made me smile when you mentioned my name on your post =)
You're wonderful ;)

It's nice to know that your daughter Elise is doing fine. I had a friend once who had his appendix out and I know you can get quite sore after the operation. Best wishes to her. I read/heard somewhere that it was usually better out than in anyway... lol...

Just wondering, why are all your daughter's name starts with E? It reminds me of the Charmed sisters (from the TV show) only their names starts with P.

I didn't know you had a tattoo. I'm guessing you have 2 or 3, or maybe none (is this a trick question?.... lol....)

Phoenix sounds like a great idea. Where would you put it? Would the public be able to see it?
I love what the Pheonix symbolises, immortality and resurrection. That's why I love the vampire genre (because it has the immortality and resurrection metaphor... well the darkside of it anyway... LOL)

I googled and here are some Phoenix Rising pictures/images.

http://images.google.com.au/images?hl=en&q=phoenix%20rising&sa=N&tab=wi

Also, I really enjoy watching DWTS, I especially love the final with Chris and Ada, it has motorcycle and Michael Jackson music, it reminded me of the finale of the movie "Centre Stage".

Can't wait to see you on DWTS again tomorrow night =)

- - - - - -

To Isabel,

I wish I could say something smart. But anyway, I'll just try my best.
I could relate. I was a musician (voice/piano/composer) too but my parents suggested I go to university and get a degree (Computer Science) in which I did. I gave up performing (and become a "closet musician") to concentrate more on my studies. I did not regret getting a degree one bit because I gained more skills, but I wish I also gave Music a bit of my time. And now that I've graduated I'm beginning to realise that music is really what I wanted to do.

I'm slowly getting back to it now. You could do the same. It's not too late. Just keep trying whatever it is you want to do and even if you failed at least you know that you tried. So, you can't blame yourself.

Don't go to another country if you think it is your way to "runaway". Whatever problem you may have it will always be there no matter where you go. The best way to solve your problem is to confront it. There is this quote from the movie "Breakfast at Tiffanys". It says "Because no matter where you run, you're always going to end up running into yourself". So, if there's something in your life or in yourself that you don't like, running away is not going to solve it. You'd have to change.

And don't worry about your English. I thought you wrote fine.

Vivienne "To Everyone,

---

No, didn't watch it on friday but I have seen the episode before, i'm sure alot of girls felt what lisa did after seeing it. While we're on the topic of the simpsons: It's not fair i used to love the simpsons so much but now that i've seen "Family Guy" I don't find the Simpsons as funny..oh the turmoil..

Must refer to a classic simpsons quote

Random: "The PTA's Disbanding!!" *Jumps out window* AAAAaaahhhhhhh
Principal Skinner: "No the PTA's not disbanding!"
Random: *Jumps back up through the window* "aaaaAAAHHH okay" *sits down*

Makes me laugh so much.

To Isabell - I'm sorry to hear what you're going through, I only just joined so I don't know you but I'd just like to say that i'll be thinking of you and I hope everything picks up.

Hello PC Friends,

I will confess-I got a tattoo when I turned 30. It took 5 years for me to make the decision. Mine is two little hearts and one big. It has meaning-it's my heart and my husband's heart making one big heart. Okay, Okay-I know-a bit sappy. But I wanted one that was classy and would look okay when I got old. It's not cheesy looking either.

A bit of news...I think I finally a good daycare for Bethany, my baby. All is going well. She now has 4 teeth and is constantly feeling them with her tongue. My oldest daughter got a good report from her 1st grade teacher. And, my middle daughter, well let's just say-she's a "pistol" and fully loaded.

For Thanksgiving-I'm greatful to have my health, a great husband and three wonderful daughters. Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate this holiday.

HUGS!
Abeth

Okay, I'll take a shot.

Three. One on the outside of each ankle, and another...somewhere else. ;)

I've been wanting another tattoo lately, but I'm a cheapskate. The cultural aspect of being tattooed is interesting to me, especially in the States. In some parts of the country it's still taboo. Here in Portland, *everyone* has a tat or six.

Posted by: Cat on November 22, 2005 09:52 PMfrom IP: 208.27.203.128

On Thanksgiving: Ellie and I wish all our PC "chickies" a day filled with love and friendship wherever in the world you are!

About Tattoos: I am against them! In my day (and that goes all the waaay back) only hippies and tough guys had them, and Cat is right when she says in our society people still are against them!

One guy, in his 80s and in my last "Follies", had one from WW2, and I caught a glimpse of it one day. It was uuugly! It was all mottled, and no wonder the guy wore long sleeves!

Paul, I hope that when you get your tattoos, NEW needles are used, not just sterilized ones!

Isabel, listen to Evelyn...she has had so much experience in working and living abroad. And Paul, too, has great advice in your doing stage work in amateur or semi-professional productions.

I have a young friend (in her early 30s) who works as administrator of ticketing for the Ensemble Theatre in Sydney, Australia. In her spare time she is already an accomplished singer, dancer, and choreographer, and is active in the musical societies in Sydney, and recently appeared as Adelaide in "Guys and Dolls"

She also choreographed a production at Chatswood High School (where Anna is a student today.)

She also went to school at night to get a degree in Management, and just graduated! So, you see, her dream was theatre, and she's doing it, but keeping in mind the fact that she needs to support herself also!

While working at the Ensemble Theatre, she met Tara Morice in person, while Tara was starring in a play there. (My friend remarked that Tara was sensational in her role.)

I, too, loved theatre and dramatics in my youth, but got a teaching degree. I spent 21 mostly happy years teaching elementary school, and doing an assembly program each year with my students. Now I am 72 years old, and still directing and producing, but now with my peers, for the senior citizens...(and for my loving PC chickies who came to see my "Follies 2005" last February.) Oh, yeah, along the way I married my Ellie, and we have our own production of 3 daughters, 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Millie, the temptation to get a tattoo of your wonderful picture from the follies is just about overwhelming right now.

;)

Cat, I think that's a MARVELOUS idea! I suddenly
have a hankering to have THAT as my own personal
tattoo, but where? (Don't answer that here!)

Love,

Mil

Cat, please do tell where that Follies tattoo would go! I really do want to know :-) [sorry dearest grandma, I don't mean any disrespect, but my curiousity or inquinsitiveness is getting the better of me.]

Oh and Abeth, I had thought of you and your baby's dillemma the last few days and I'm so glad that you have found something that you both are happier with! I hope it stays that way, because it must be tough for both of you to have to keep changing and not knowing that your baby is getting the best possible care.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Isabelle how are you doing?

Now now, it's meant to be a RESPECTFUL tribute.

I think right in the middle of my back, because if there's anyone I want at my back in a scrape, it's Millie. :)

Point duly noted Cat, although I was refering to my request to know the location of the tattoo as intended not to be disrespectful to Grandma Mil. :-) I'll stick to other forms of respectful tributes to Grandma Mil or you or anyone else for that matter. I'm a big chicken when it comes to tattoos, probably shouldn't have fessed up on that one. I know what happens when I 'fess up about such things, esp. involving my loving treatment of beer :-)

Grandma Mil: "She also choreographed a production at Chatswood High School (where Anna is a student today.)"

Really? Which production? I've been going to that school since year 7 and we've put on two musicals in that whole time (I know, our drama department is seriously deprived). So maybe I was there at the time, maybe I wasn't.

To Anna,

About 'The Simpsons'. Yes, I agree what you said about Lisa and what she felt. I agree 'Family Guy' is a funny show too. I still love 'The Simpsons' though. I love both shows.

Thanks for the reminding me of that Simpsons' quote. Yeah that was really funny =)
What about the following Simpsons quote? Do you remember it?

After the guy and the girl danced the 'Tango de la Muerte'.
Guy: You are now carrying my child.
Girl: But how?
Guy: It's the mystery of the dance.

To Isabel,

I hope you're okay. I re-read my post and I sounded a bit... crazy.
I'm just not a good advisor. Listen to Grandma Mil, Evelyn and Paul, they have more experience about this things.

Anybody here lives in Sydney? It was raining last night, I thought the rain was too loud and I couldn't hear the TV until I realised it was raining ice.

hahahahah!! Yes! I laughed so hard at that! *wipes tears from eyes* you have reignited my love for the simpsons, thank you viv! haha.

Oh and yes, that rain was so insanely loud! It was really sunny and then: PFOAR rain and ice and the loudest thunder I have EVER heard.

PS. Sorry! Do you remember this part?

Dancer: Now that my severed foot has been reattached, I must win back the coveted dance title "Loco Legs".

Coach: As your wise but alcoholic dance coach, I know that somewhere your father is looking down on you and smiling. Oh, there he is!
(his father, on a balcony, smiles and gives him two thumbs up.)

haha.

Grandma Mil:

Where did you get that friendship quote? This one:

"If you're ever in a jam, here I am,
For it's friendship, friendship, just a perfect blendship...whenever other friendships have been forgot, ours will still be hot..."

That's hilarious! Who said that?

Dear Megan,

That part of the lyric is from the longer song "Friendship" written by Cole Porter, an absolute genius for his time and forever.

If you really want to laugh, here's where you can get the complete song: (The lyrics are soooo
clever!)

Go to Google: type in "Cole Porter's Friendship"

When the page comes up, click on #3, "FRIENDSHIP"
and prepare to laugh and marvel at the genius of
it all!

Shalom and Love,

Gran Mil (I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!)

Posted by: Grandma Mil on November 25, 2005 08:07 AMfrom IP: 4.129.109.177

I'd just like to say this is such a great place to meet friends =)

To Anna,

Yes, I remember that quote! That one is so funny. I think that was right in the beginning.

From the same episode, do you remember the quote below:

Dancer: There is just one dance that will beat them... the Tango de la Muerte.
Lisabella: Only one man was crazy enough to dance that dance, and he is dead.
Dancer: My twin brother, Freduardo. But where he died, I shall live ... in his apartment.

From a different episode, do you remember this quote by Homer? It is probably one of my favourite Homer Simpson's quote.

Homer: "It takes two to lie, one to lie and one to listen" ...lol...

Absent minded Abe Simpson (about Homer): "Homer is not a communist. My Homer may be a liar, a pig, an iditot, a communist, but he is NOT a pornographer."

Yes, the rain on Tuesday night was so loud and scary. The ice keeps hitting our windows and we were worried it might break our windows. But fortunately it didn't.

To Megan Ariells:

I see you like friendship quotes. I know a funny one.

"A friend will help you move, a true friend will help you move a body".

Posted by: Vivienne on November 25, 2005 10:36 AMfrom IP: 203.58.15.17

hahah!! Vivienne, i love all those quotes! and esp the abe simpson one.

And I do remember that one, oh it's so funny, I love the part where he dances with Lisabella and in like..three moves she becomes beautiful, like he twists her and her glasses come off, he dips her an her hair loosens and then he takes her back up and her blouse un-does.

The simpsons own my life. I love this one:

Marge: Homer, the plant called. They said if you don't show up tomorrow don't bother showing up on Monday.
Homer: Woo-hoo. Four-day weekend.
---
Homer: Are you saying you're never going to eat any animal again? What about bacon?
Lisa: No.
Homer: Ham?
Lisa: No.
Homer: Pork chops?
Lisa: Dad, those all come from the same animal.
Homer: Heh heh heh. Ooh, yeah, right, Lisa. A wonderful, magical animal.

ahhahahaha. Okay, I'm taking this a bit too far.

Paul
So glad your are sooo busy. Hope Elise is back to 'normal' for a teenager that is.
I think you have 5 tattoos, one of them is a Celtec cross. I remember the Celtec part as I love Celtec Music, especially a CD called Celtec Woman I'm still looking through my PC notes. It's quite a stack! LOL

Grand Mil' I'm so glad your back and posting, and your health is on the mend.

I just recently read a wonderful travel journey about Melborne, with it's tree lined streets and Red Brick houses. I can picture Paul and his family living in one of these beautiful homes.

I am going back to Maryland to be with my daughter and her family for Christmas. My new granddaughter 'Sidney' will be 6 months old. It's so hard for them to be so far away. She is such a beautiful little one. She was born with an enormas head of black hair and has not lost any of it. I know Grand Mil can relate to being so far away from all her family.

Take care, Love to all
Marge

Posted by: marge on November 26, 2005 03:54 AMfrom IP: 4.179.52.202

Marge, thanks for your concern. I'm doing much better, back to planning my activities in show biz, and catching up with PC.

I know how you must miss that new grandchild!

Ellie and I rely on the phone, the digital camera, and the computer to stay in touch overseas.

One grandson and wife are expecting a second child, and the twin great-children from another grandson and wife are thriving. They too are almost 6 months old.

We last saw them the day they were born and placed in the preemie nursery!

A recent picture shows that the girl has black hair, and the boy is blonde!

We spent Thanksgiving with three single friends...all widows. We went to the movies to see "Walk the Line" and were a bit disappointed, but I loved Reese Witherspoon...Oscar material!

Then we went to a steak house near Deerfield Beach, where our PC chickies walked and talked last February. None of us ordered turkey...I had my chicken wings!!! The beach area had 2 tattoo parlors, but I secretly told myself to behave, and act my age!

Shalom and Love,

Gran Mil

Grandma Mil:

Thanks! I love Cole Porter; Kiss Me Kate is one of my favorite musicals, (I love the 1953 version w/ Howard Keel & Kathryn Grayson).

"Brush up your Shakespeare, start quoting him now.
Brush up your Shakespeare, and the women you will wow!"

Vivienne:

Actually, I love all quotes, and that's a great one about hiding the bodies. Wasn't that Dave Atell who said that?

And lastly:

"True friends stab you in the front."
-Oscar Wilde

“Hold a friend with both hands.”
–Nigerian proverb

To Anna,

Yes. I loved that quote with Homer and Lisa, especially the Homer one about work. That was funny, remember how they did something similar in a Coke commercial once? When coke had a cherry flavour or something. Yes, the scene you described is funny and then Lisa said "she's not plain, she's beautiful!".

Do you remember this Homer quote?

Homer (to Elton John): "Mr. John, I'm your biggest fan! I've tape recorded all your songs of the radio!".

- - -

To Megan Ariells,

I don't know who said the friendship quote I wrote about earlier. I just read it on some website once and forgot the name of the author, but I did my research and you're right. Dave Atell did say that!

Here's another friendship quote "Friends are God's way of taking care of us".

- - -

I hope Paul doesn't mind us being "off-topic", talking about 'The Simpsons' and friendship quotes. Anyway, to get on-topic, let's talk more about Paul's tattoos.

Posted by: Vivienne on November 28, 2005 07:13 PMfrom IP: 203.58.15.17

I never knew the Simpsons did a take on SB!! I will have to ask the kids if they have seen it.

Okay so the tattoos - I have five but have in fact had six!? I got one in Paris (outside left ankle) by a rather weird tattooist that I had to cover up. I have a tatt from London (inside left ankle), two from Sydney (right groin, outside left ankle cover up), one from Paris, one from Melbourne (outside right ankle) and one from Perth - well Freamantle really (left calf) they are kind of like a tavelogue. I almost got one in Canada whilst I was working on I Robot they have great use of colour over there where as here in Australia I havent found a tattooist that uses colour that well - yet. I will need to if I get a Pheonix.

Mmmmmm the idea of getting a picture of Grand Ma Mil?!?!? Tattooed where??????? I have thought about having each of my daughters baby photos tattooed on me somewhere but portraits are very difficult to do and again you would want to go to someone who really specializes in this form.

So Cat - How many are you sporting????

Marge I also have the Celtic Women cd and love it.

Five! I'm having tattoo envy!

I only have the one on my left wrist. Here's a pic from when it was fresh--you can still see the slight swelling:

http://www.frykitty.com/graphics/yes.jpg

Portland boasts some of the most amazing artists in the country, probably because tats are so common here. I have a few more in mind, but it's kind of a frivolous expense to me (being a woman of few shoes), so it will take a while to get around to getting them.

Posted by: Cat on November 29, 2005 08:06 AMfrom IP: 24.21.137.118

What are your tattoos of Paul? Where are you going to put the Pheonix? I like your new design for mercs brew. If I were to get a tattoo I think I'd like something like that on my shoulder (back of). :)

Hi all, long time no write!!

Passed through Wilma (hurricaine) with a loss of power for 10 days, 4 of which I had to go to work! Lost internet access until last week. Everything fine now, but I wish I never moved from NC!

Grandma Mil, got your message but have been busy with work and new townhome in Margate (I'm closer to you now, just south of Atlantic and 441). Think of you always!

Glad that there are other "tat" fans out there! Have one, a belladonna flower. Was thinking about getting another small one on the inside of my wrist. Saw your new one, Cat, and wondered if it hurt on the inside of the wrist. The skin is so thin there, I wonder how the ink takes. My "tat" is just for my own pleasure, not anyone elses, that is why I was thinking of the inside of my wrist.

Good luck to you Paul with your brewing business. Microbrews are still quite the rage in Asheville, NC where I moved from. I know if you sold it in the states (not to mention other countries), you would already have a great distribution base with the members of PC!

Anyway, my love to all and I am thinking about Follies next year (2007) Grandma Mil!

What fun, Paul! A tattoo of Millie - so charming. She is the heart of your Corner. Would darling Millie then reciprocate with a tattoo of Paul? Hmmm?? I have often wanted a tasteful tattoo but too chicken to do it.

Evelyn...Still thinking the best for you!

Inn and Michelle...Saw HP and the GOF yesterday. Thought it was well done. Captured the flavor and feeling of the book. What did you think? After the holidays, I will re-read HBP looking for clues. Then I will be able to engage in thoughtful dialog, Inn.

Thanx a lot to all of you for your posts.I´ve been very busy and not able to come over here and say "hello".I have to say that you helped me A LOT and I loved reading all your advices.I´m lately feeling much better,I´m gonna sing soon with my old theater company, they missed me and ask me to sing in three of the "daily-shows" that they are playing in a theater in Madrid(so I can combine it with my new job),It´s great!Wish you were her to invite all of you to see the play...!.My mood went into the normal status:happy and positive.
I also want to apologize cause the day i wrote that post i was feeling very down and depressed, and i have to say it´s not my way.
THANK YOU!I TAKE YOUR ADVICES.

CHANGING THE SUBJECT...
I´d like to do a tattoo on my ankle...does it hurt?.

ISABEL(Madrid)-Mine is on the outside of my left ankle and it's decently small. It took about 40 minutes and didn't hurt until the next day-felt like a sunburn. In fact-the needle that the dentist gives to numb your mouth hurt worse than the needle for the tattoo.

HUGS!

Paul, Linda, thanks for thinking of me as Tattoo
Momma!

I'm too big to go anywhere on anyone, but it's the thought that counts!

Isabel, keep up that theatre work...wish I lived closer, I would be in the audience cheering you on! It sounds as if you are very experienced in show biz! A singer? I could use you in the next "Follies"! I already have a Brazilian young woman who has danced in my past shows. She is a flamenco expert and also leads exercise classes for the senior women in our village. We love each other!

Beth Ellen, glad to hear you're settled into your new home..the best to you! It sounds like you're living very close to us, and hope we can meet soon!
