Happy New Year!!! So what is 2006 like, since a whole bunch of you are already in it? I have 9 1/2 hours to go. Looking forward to celebrating with a friend and her family in a few hours, Irish-German style. I have no clue what the Irish do for New Year's celebrations, looking forward to finding it out, though.

Happy New Year Paul and family and all my PC buddies! I have 7 hours to go. It was 65 degrees here in Colorado today! Felt like summer. I'm in trouble, because I'm already getting spring fever and we have about 5 months to go! I'm already dreaming of what I want to plant in the garden this summer.

I surely wish for a wonderful 2006 for all of us. I am finishing this year out not in the best place, but I know where I want to be and I'll be damned if I can't get there!

I'm at work till 10 p.m. and then have been invited to ring in the new year with friends, but think I'll head home before the streets get too bad. Don't want to get in trouble myself either.

Happy New Year to all. Paul and the Aussies celebarted a little earlier than us. My friend is also "Down Under" on vacation, and she had to e-mail and let me know she had gone to the beach yesterday. Wish we had that nice warm weather. Northern Cali is getting hit with a series of pretty hard storms.

But maybe it's mother natures way of "washing out" the old year, and bringing in the new one. The storm broke for a while last night, and the sun came out just long enough to set and give us all a beautiful end to 2005.

I had a "party" for my husband and girls. I made a munchie spread, a cake, and my husband steamed the shrimp. Julia and Kathryn thought it was more like a birthday party. Kathryn wanted to sing Happy Birthday to New Year-so we did!! We all stayed up until midnight, went to bed and that's when Bethany decided it was time for her "all night party"!! She was teething and on the end of a bad cold. I made it to bed around 4:45.

Speaking of Bethany....we will be celebrating Bethany's Big One birthday. I'm having small low key party for her. I always do birthdays at home-I find them to be more warm and cozy.

I had a really strange dream about our Paul the other night. I dreamt that I was in Austraila and I was following him as he rode his motorcycle through all the beautiful parts of Austraila and then he was stopped by an officer, spotted me, asked me if I was from Paul's corner and then him and Andrea were so nice to me and got me on a boat back to the states. I dreamt that the moon there was just so huge and I felt like I was on another planet. LOL

Abeth hope your little one is feeling better ... teething is exciting but I wish babies didn't have to go through so much pain. Teeth are a wonderful thing, but they hurt when they are "born" and even more when they "die"!

Vivienne, I was in chat with an Aussie friend on new year's eve and she mentioned that the temperatures had reached 112F ... you guys are experiencing a sauna rather than a summer! Hope temps have cooled down a bit so you can enjoy the rest of your summer. :-)

Wow, Tea, I was all excited about you meeting Paul, and then I read that it had been a dream! LOL So our Paul and Andrea were very nice to you ... then how come they didn't take you to their home for a Merk's beer instead of taking you to a boat? LOL Sorry, could not resist teasing you about the dream. ;-)

Seriously, though, I think that your perception of the moon may be correct ... when I was in the Caribbean the moon and stars were just more vivid, and I think larger than what we see in NYC. Then again, we have so many lights it's just about impossible to see the stars ... we get to see the planets, but to see the stars you need to be away from city lights. Hope that one day soon you will be able to see the Australian moon, especially if you win the lottery! :-)

What do you think happened to me after teasing you about your dream? Well, I dreamt about Paul's beer, but here in the States ... can't remember a lot of details but at one point I remember walking with some people and then seeing a commercial for Merc's Own on one of those outdoor lighted billboards. I was excitedly telling anyone within earshot that it was Paul's beer and I was so happy that it was now available here, too. I was getting ready to find a place where I could buy one. LOL The phone ringing woke me up, so I never got to taste the beer! :-(

HELLO PC FRIENDS,

Just wanted to check in to say hello. And, to update y'all about my daughter. She will be having belly button surgery on 1/27. The doctor thought the hernia looked pretty bad. It will be done on an outpatient basis. Tomorrow, we are celebrating her "Big 1" birthday! I just really cannot believe that it's been a year. She's such a lovely little baby-can't wait to hear her talk and the funny things she'll say!!

I just saw the new DWTS last night. Tonight one of them will be eliminated. There is some great celebrity talant this time. One is a female Professional Wrestler and did quite well.

Paul, there is a professional dancer from Australia named Nick Kosovich. Do you happen to know him? Will we see you as a judge in the US in a future series. We would love to see you there.

There has also been a program series called Ballroom Bootcamp. It's quite hiliarious. They pair klutz's with a prof. dancer.

Also started is another program where they take 11-12 year olds from poor neighborhoods and teach them ballroom dancing. (I can't remember the name of it) "Senior Moment" I keep missing it, but I figure it has to be funny too.

I second the excitement we could all share in the U.S. if you would at least visit and sit in on a few shows of DWTS here.

I never watched the show until there was a marathon one weekend and I got caught up in it. It's so fun. But I would be glued to it if Paul was a judge. The new season opener aired tonight, if I'm not mistaken. I think I had the tivo set. I hope I didn't forget. I'm at work now, but will find out soon enough.

I saw two young couples from the "Mad Hot Ballroom" team. They were adorable. My children both took ballroom dancing lessons in middle school and then the school held a very proper dance for the kids. It was beautiful and neither of them ever forgot it. I even got to volunteer as a dance partner/instructor. How fun. It should be a part of every school's corriculum. So should P.E. What's this world coming too? lol

But see how our wonderful Paul has captured all of us through is beautiful style of dance. Hmmmm, guess I'll be watching SB this weekend again.

Better late then never: HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE IN PC-LAND !!

So many new people here, who probably don't know or don't remember me. Welcome to all !!

I have wonderful news to share:
I've had a check-up with my neurologist again and it went really well !! My bloodpressure was excellent (the last time they checked it, it was too high)and the best news is that I can stop taking medications !!!! That means if I am mentally ready for it. If I take them, I feel more secure, but if I am ready for it, I am allowed to stop taking them !! This is so good, because at the beginning the doctor told me there was a chance that I had to use them my whole life...
This is a good start into the new year and I feel great !!!

Well, just wanted to share the good news and wish you all well !!

Well here we are a week+ into the New Year and all is going well...so far. I am not normally pesamistic, but given my track record I am leary!!

My oldest, who is 20 wants to join the military. I am ok with it, if he is not in danger...LOL, imagine that. He dosent understand that as a parent, who has lost 1 child already, that I have an unhealthy fear of going thru it again. I am trying to be supportive and understand that he needs to make his own life, but it is so much harder than I ever thought it would be to let go. Is that odd?

As far as all else I think the new year could be a good one. My wish for you all is a year of love and peace, comfort,joy and health.

As for dreaming of Paul, wow, never had one, but it would be interesting...I dreamed of Elvis once. That was a trip, he was making sure my nails were painted(?). Now that was interesting. Think I would rather follow Paul on a motorcycle....LOL.

Hi Paul, I've just seen you in 'Joseph' and I'm, what's the word, entranced! You brought such a sensitivity to that role as Joseph - very subtle. Your portrayal just grows on the viewer gradually as the film unfolds; you don't overdo it; like a flower unfolding, your character emerges. Beautifully acted.
You also have very beautiful eyes... ;)

Yes. It was really hot last week here in Australia. For some reason it is really hot
around the weeks of Christmas and New Year. After that the temperature gets back to normal.
It has cool down now. It has been raining some days. Right now in Sydney is's a bit cloudy.

Hello everyone.

I have a message for Michelle #3. If you son is interested in joining the Military, he should think about the Navy. This is the safest branch of the Armed Services, as they are usually on a ship, or at a military base and don't into the fighting areas. My son-in-law is a career Navy person. He is the third generation in his family to serve.

I'm going to have to check out the "Mad Hot Ballroom" movie. Sounds like a great thing for young boys & girls to do.

It's been raining here in Washington forever, and breaking the record of days of continuous rain. In fact the last time we had so many days of rain was back in the 60's. I can't remember how many days we have so far. I keep my "happy light" on.

I get up in the morning,look out the windows and plan my day accordingly. Cricket and I go for our walk most days, her in her raingear and me in mine.

How good to hear from you again, and yes, "eye candy for the masses" (my Ellie, thank you) is doing okay in spite of my health problems in September. I'm doing better, getting ready for auditions for the next Follies Febr. 2007, and doing my monthly video concerts. I've slowed down a bit, but I still go to the ladies' gym early each morning.

Viv, I read in November in an Aussie online newspaper that Tara Morice and her partner, Gregg Morrell, were opening in a two person play.

The play was called "Love Letters" which opened at the Parade Theatre in Kensington...it was unique in the fact that other actor-couples appeared in the same play at other times throughout the month, but I am sure that Tara and Gregg were the best couple, with their experience in stage, TV and movies!

I made her a special card, sent it on in November, 2 weeks before the play opened, and just the other day, got a lovely postcard from her, thanking me.

She and Paul are very special to us, and we were quite touched.

Marge, Thanks for the advice. In fact it was my line of thought also. My cousin is on the USS HARRY TRUMAN, and she has seen nothing of war since she enlisted 4 years ago. He is going to the Navy recruiter this evening to "talk" about what they offer.
I know what you mean about the rain here...I feel like I am drowning in it...argh. Makes me miss Colorado and Montana.

I think I remembered reading about her and Gregg Morrell in a TV week guide once. Was he the actor in Blue Heelers? I remembered reading that Tara also appeared in that TV show.

I actually surfed the web before looking if she too has a website, but it doesn't seem like she has one.

I would have loved to have seen that (Love Letters) play.

If you go into Google and type "Tara Morice" you will get thousands of hits, mostly about Strictly
Ballroom and her role with Paul.

Once in awhile something comes up that tells us that she is appearing in something, either on Australian TV or movie.

She appeared on TV in "Second Chance" with Gregg Morrell, and is now filming a full length
film, "Answerered By Fire" which will be opening in 2006 or later.

She will appear with Heath Ledger and Abbie Cornish in the movie "Candy" which should be coming out soon too. She does not have a starring role, but she's been a working actress over the years in the genre of TV, stage, and film.

I wrote my first fan letter to her back in 2001, after I saw "Strictly Ballroom" for the first time.

She answered me, saying she was in Florida signing autographs when the movie opened in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, in the 1990's, but my husband and I had just retired in Florida and missed that...I could kick myself! (Paul too, was doing interviews on the East and West coasts to promote the film. These publicity trips were hard work.)

Yes, she is so very gracious, and so is our Paul.

Go to IMDB.com, type in her name or Paul's in the
"name" box and "voila" so much will come up!

I had to order my second DVD of "Strictly Ballroom", for the first one is scratched, so being I want to show SB to the seniors in our community, on our huge DVD screen in March, I want it perfect!

The DVD colors are so brilliant, and the acting also. Paul and Tara are marvelous together, and their scenes together are so poignant, that when people state it is a "comedy" I cringe!

Hello everyone! been busy being sick twice and getting healthy three times in the last 3 weeks :-) and getting some research writing time in before teaching duties resumed, today. I love the interaction time with the students but it also amazes me constantly, how much time that consumes out of each day. I started this day out with rather mixed feelings, because it occurred to me that this might be my last semester teaching here, depending on how the job situation plays out here, I have no clue what they are doing with this search. Sigh!
The other part that added to today’s nervousness was that I knew that I’d hear back today from one of the places I interviewed with after Christmas whether I made it into the final round of interviewees or not. Jumping every time the phone rang or the email beeped telling me I had new email. Well, I got that invitation for a finalist interview (2 day on campus deal) with them for mid February. I had a good feeling about it all the way, but then again, sometimes you want something so badly that you make yourself feel or believe things that aren’t true. Now if somehow I could stop thinking about the fact that the stakes are so much higher now and stop my stomach from doing cartwheels, back flips or whatever it is doing, that would be a good thing! =) Living by this motto: “Be myself, do my best and if it’s meant to be, it will happen.”

MaryS, while I agree with your “assessment” of SB and what it means to viewers, fans, appreciators of Paul and his work, sometimes it’s really weird to be reminded of something that one has done professionally so many years back and also moved on from, … sometimes I wonder if that is a blessing or less so for Paul. Know what I mean? By the way, I do love the movie!

That's what I did before, I googled her name and mostly it is just articles/reviews about SB, not an official site or even a fansite (unofficial ones created by fans) about her. But I'll do what you said, still google her name once in a while for the latest news.

Yes. I've been to imdb.com. I love their messageboards, I'm a regular poster there. Have you been to the messageboards? If you have my user name is "spike4dru". I once posted in the Tara Morice board there asking if she had a website, official/fansites, I did get a reply but it is not really an answer, just fellow posters telling me if I found a website let them know.
I think if you scroll down Tara Morice's profile, you can probably see my message.

It sounds like you're an SB fan (well, I guess we all are). Have you posted in the SB messageboards (in imdb). It's where people discuss the movie.

Grandma how's things - it's warm but wet in Sydney at the moment , umm just wanted to correct you so that no one is offended but Tara's partner is Geoff not Greg Morrell, so if you write again you may want to note that.
Life is speeding along here - still trying to find an apartment and job for my Mum which is frustrating but at least she got her residency.
I'm sure Paul will advise but just saw the ads for 3rd series of Australian Dancing with the Stars - I don't know if they've started taping or if Paul signed up again but I know you like being on top of the news !!
Did you hear at all how hot it was here on News Year Day 44 degrees celcius it was insane !!!!!!
Work wise everyone seems to be still buying wine happily and at Xmas we had the busiest time I've had in 10 years of working at the place !!! Normally we have 7,000 calls into the call centre , 2nd week in December we had 38,000 , again more insanity in Sydney .

I had a wild ride halfway to work on Monday. We got an unexpected 4" of snow overnight and the road crews never made it out for rush hour. Well, as careful as I was driving, I hit a patch of ice and went spinning out, hit the guardrail, then smashed into the median. What a ride! My car is totaled, but I am fine, thank God. Someone was watching over me for sure.

It takes something like that to make you appreciate who and what you have. Our family was never more connected than it was on Monday, and I know I am truly loved.

Sally, I'm glad you are okay, sorry about your car though. Have you driven a car since? After I was in a car accident years ago, that was the hardest thing for me, to get back in there, but I made myself do it the same day.

Thanks guys for your support. I'm still excited and happily nervous about the upcoming interview. In three weeks, I'll have day one of the two day interview behind me. I got my interview schedule today, Day 1 get up at 4 am to travel there, interview stuff from 12 N until 7:30 PM, Day 2 8:30 AM until 7:30 PM--no breaks! As I'm writing this, I'm sitting here laughing, it seems surreal, but then again, I've done this before, nonetheless, thank god for adrenalin, I'll be on an adrenalin-high for those 2 1/2 days and then I'll crash :-)

Hi to Mary across the pond. Thank you for thinking of me. A few months ago, my pen friend of 40 odd years, from England paid us a visit. I've always wanted to visit her but never had the time or money, but something wonderful came about while she and her husband were here. My daughter and her family became so fascinated with their stories, that when I suggested we all go for a visit, they agreed! Now we are planning our trip to England and I am so excited. Would love to see you then, so who knows? Miracles do happen...

Sorry I have been away, but I was busy with a project for one of the miniature magazines where my articles have been appearing.

EVELYN, the miniatures are going well and now I'm a "published author"! LOL The project for the February issue of American Miniaturist was a headache. I needed to redo some things when some materials I used didn't work out, but I persevered and it all worked out in the end. ;-)
