Great news! 5:30pm on a Saturday sounds like an ideal screening time to get us in the mood for a good feed and a glass or two of Merc's Own!
I may even be inspired to cook a little myself (God help the family!)

I see that DWTS is screening again soon. It's been a major hit for Seven, probably more so than the producers anticipated? Let's hope that 'The Food Trail" shares the same level of success.

I ran past your old house the other day and saw that the grass needed mowing. We've had a bit of rain here and there. No doubt you would enjoy the smell of that fresh cut grass.

Dear Paul,

If Australians are as bonkers for cooking shows as we Americans, your new show will be a BIG hit!

I love to watch cable here in Florida that features the "Food Channel." It has many features about food, but then, it has great cooks demonstrating their talent for chopping, cutting, broiling, braising, etc., etc. right on camera.

My favorite is a 30 something vivacious young woman named Rachel Ray. She already is a celebrity in what she does. She has written books on cooking her way.

On TV she has a program called "30 Minute Meals", and except for some commercials, she comes through with practical, beautiful and scrumptous-looking meals for family and friends, all in a half-hour! She has been written up in
the New York Times, etc., and she's very well known in the culinary circles, and travels the world to bring back secrets she has learned!

I know that there is an audience out there, for watching the master chefs cook and serve is more mesmerizing than most shows on TV...a true reality program!

A bit off topic.. Ellie and I just became
great-grandparents for the 8th time, with the arrival of a baby girl the other day in Israel.

ALL-Thank you for the prayers and thoughts of Bethany. She came through with flying colors and was a real trooper. I got to go back with her while they put her under-my husband said I should since I am her favorite person. So, I did. It only took 30 seconds for her to go to sleep and about 30 minutes of surgery. By that evening-she was back to being herself. My husband and I did just fine and were quite relieved when we could go back to the recovery room. Poor baby-she was probably sick of us being in her face!!

Evelyn I'm sure global television is not to far off in the future where I can watch shows from Austriala as well as the UK and vica versa. I just wish it'd happen soon. I feel left out :(

It’s been a looong time since I’ve posted. A lot has been going on. I’ve gone back to school to learn to be a Veterinary Assistant. Am I too old to learn a new trick at 50 years old? I don’t think so. My subconscious thoughts tell me I’m only 25 years old. :-)

Congrats Paul on your show airing on the Food Trail network. You’re truly a renaissance man!

Good for you Paul! I remember back a few months ago when your blog read of frustration on it not being aired yet. So I'm happy for you. Hopefully it will snowball into a runaway hit. If Aussies are as big "foodies" as we have here in the U.S. you could be the next food tv. star. Then You can open that Brewery you so want to open.

Wooohoo ! Food Trail will save me from Cricket and Tennis and all the other air-time stealing sports !!! Hooray hooray food not footy - although you are a southerner and will probably discuss AFL at sometime throughout the series . Actually Paul , did you do a football character in a flick once ? ( or it might me hallucinating again ). Apologies for the aussieisms everyone , AFL is Australian Rules football which is pratically a religion in Victoria whereas Rugby League and Rugby Union are the dominant football codes in New South Wales ## Welcome to Amanda's Aussie 101 !!

My exciting news is 1) we have found a Flat for my MUM !!!
next step is to get her a job

my baby girl starts ballet at Jan Breen's my old dancing school on this Saturday - I get so emotional about beautiful things like this and she is sooo into being a ballet girl , I know I'm going to blubber embarassingly when she walks through the class door !

Paul, do your girls dance ? Did you get all nostalgic when your oldest started or did Andrea ?

Love the new show 'the food trail'. Would like to know where I can get more info on the Milawa region as shown on TV Saturday 18 March 2006. Have been trying to do searches on Yahoo 7 and Milawa and no success. Maybe I'm searching incorrectly. Milawa sounds like the ideal 'foodies' region and would like to know more, eg size of town, employment opportunities, infrastructure re: transport, health, etc. Have heard about the mustard and cheese tasting before and am impressed. We need to market more of this, not only for victoria, but for the whole of australia so that the rest of the world knows more about us. We don't all have kangaroos jumping down our main streets and koalas in our trees in the 'burbs'.

Paul, keep up the good work. Loved you in 'Strictly Ballroom' and think you are very fair in 'Dancing with the Stars' (PS: when are you guys going to get rid of Daryl and replace him with, say, Tom).
