Two in a Week

Strange isnt it that for some reason only the universe may comprehend a second Aussie hero has died this week. I hope things dont really come in three's, unless of course they are really good things!

That said - the good thing here or the thing that one can feel good about is that both these men died doing what they loved, they were living their life to the full with the sort of passion that they were renowned for. So if I am to take anything away from Steve Irwin's and Peter Brock's deaths it is the lesson "to live with passion" and to therefore die with passion. To do neither seems somewhat of a waste.

That is so true, Paul, and about the only good thing one can see in these situations. And with Steve's young children, there is a wealth of video to keep his image alive for them.

I agree. I am and always will be a huge fan of Steve's. I was shocked to hear of his death but as you say Paul, Steve died doing what he loved.

Hope you're well.

So sad and a wakeup call that we are all so mortal and fragile. Each day could be our last. We have to make our lives count and mostly with our families. We were given each other in life to learn, love and grow. We are the ones who still have this wonderful opportunity in front of us. We can't waist it.

Love to all of you.

p.s. I posted yesterday regarding the lovely picture of the family...not sure where it went.

All the more relevant now to appreciate what and who we have in our lives.

very sad indeed; puts things into perspective; makes me stop and think about how I live my life; makes me appreciate what I have in my life; makes me enjoy and embrace life; ...

but it also makes me sad for the friends and families of these two men; letting go isn't easy, nor is facing the pain and loss; I hope they can face it and I hope they are surrounded by people who love them deeply and can carry them through this difficult phase.

Great post, Paul. Someone once said "Live each day as if it were your last, for surely one day you will be right". Actually, I think that might have been a favourite saying of one of the people who went down on United 93 trying to stop the hijackers...

I don't mean to sound ignorant, but who is Peter Brock?

Great post, Paul, and good advice to live passionately.

Today Animal Planet (cable/satellite channel) was doing a marathon of Steve Irwin's show. It hit me kind of hard when I realized this amazing person was no longer alive.

Warm thoughts to both the Irwin and Brock families.

Just a heads-up everyone: I will be without internet access until this weekend, so posts won't be approved until after then.

Peter Brock was a motor racing legend. He was due to start a film soon, largely based on his career. The film will go on, with an actor in Peter's place. I think they should dedicate the filme to him as a tribute. He will be missed. Life is brief...

Paul, have we told you lately that we (your PC legion)love you?

Hiya corner - Paul , I'm not quite getting it that Steve and Peter are dead - I don't know whether it is all the press and replaying
stuff but it really is taking a long time to sink in , that a couple of guys who really should have been strutting there stuff for a lot longer won't be around. Now I can be a bit supersticious but
I feel it normally goes in threes so I'm hoping that ( in a nice way ) that Len Evans was the first of the 3 and the "gods are apeased " with the sacrifices.
The girls looked gorgeous in the fam pic all so unique but such a blend of the 2 of you - you looked like a proud peacock - god luv ya - I bloody missed Food Trails so I'll have to buy the DVD when it gets released !
Another weird vibe going on in Sydney at the mo is mine and a lot of my friend's partners are " going down " with injuries and diseases that are not fatal or long term but are definitely stopping them in their tracks. Five to be exact !
Hi grandma mil !!
and evelyn and tea and peter
Paul seems to be chugging along well but if anyone can include
Australian Film and TV industry in their prayers , thoughts , wishes at the moment - we could do with a helping hand , not much in production or seemingly coming up and the government seems help bent on knobbling it's future.
Our summer if finally approaching as most of your autumns are making you rug up !
Stange this northern , southern hemisphere thingy !!
love , light and outlets for talent

Sorry to hear that someone else lost their life quite suddenly. I was not familiar with him, but it's very sad just the same.

It shows us we need to be aware of life not only when we hear of someone's passing, but as we really live it.

I know this isn't really the place but I just need to say this.

Right now, I'm really stressed and my family are driving me up the wall. I love them but right now I could just do with being left alone and relaxing. Evrything's going pretty haywire.

Anyway, Paul how are you and your family?
I've just caught up with DWTS, fantastic!

Hey all,

All this Steve Irwin shows an dhighlights of his positive thinking and zest for life have really got me thinking. I need to embrace the light and love in my life andscrew the dark and negative. If someone is negative and down or rude or degrading to me, instead of letting it hurt me, I instantly feel sorry for them and pitty them. I am above and beyond that and refuse to allow myself to sink to the level of that. Since making this change, I have been more organized, relaxed, calm and have adopted the "this too shall pass" attitude. I do on occation feel myself slipping and have to stop myself and take a deep breath and think "dont sweat the small stuff" I think that is what he did and he was so happy. I just want to be really happy again. It feels like it has been so very long. They showed the interview with Terri Irwin last night on 20/20, she was so strong. I cried the whole interview and was so inspired by her strength. Bless her heart.

Hope all is well with everyone.

Paul, looking forward to hearing from you soon, I hope you have more work than you know what to do with! I know there is something absolutely spectacular just waiting around the corner for you!! let us know what it is, won't you? Hope your health continues to improve and your family is doing great!

Hey Gran Mil!, Hey Sally, Diane, Marge, evelyn, deltalady, al the "oldies, or originals should I say" on the site.

Cat, thanks again for this blog,

Love to all,

Kelly :)

Hi, at last, to Paul, Amanda and Kelly, Claire, Evelyn, Diane, Melody, etc.

I tried to post for almost 2 weeks, but something seemed to have gotten stuck, but here we are again!

I saw Barbara Walters' interview with Steve Irwin's wife, and she was so brave, trying to be strong for herself and her children. When she tearfully said, "he was my prince" that said it all!

Ellie and I have been mostly busy with rehearsals
for "Follies 2007" due in our big Theatre the week of Valentine's Day. This show will be the best of all the "Follies" I have directed in the past since 1997, for we have new talent, new faces, and new innovations!

The cast has almost 40 seniors, the youngest ones in their late 50s and the eldest 95, and sings a duet with his girlfriend who is 89!

One of my favorite innovations is a chorus of 30 men and women, who open the show with that gorgeous song,"My Foolish Heart." Actually, they are not really singing, but are lipsyching to a CD of a famous choir of the 1950s, but no one could tell, the illusion is so great!

We have great real singers, Latin dancers, comedy, etc. I, myself, end the show with my lipsync rendition of Ethel Merman's "Alexander's Ragtime Band."

A friend of mine in Melbourne has reported that she sees you often on the TV Paul, and when she does, she said she thinks of me! Now, that's really sweet!

Shalom and Love,

Grandma Mil

Hello everyone,

nothing in particular, just wanting to say "Hello."

Interestingly quiet here at the moment, wish I had a bit more of that in my life right now. Things are hectic. It always amazes me how steep that learning curve is when you start a new job, but I'm sensing that I'm slowly getting a sense of how things work here and that I'm beginning to get a bit more effective in what I do when advising students here. I hate this thought that is my reality at the moment "I know exactly what to do/what the requirements are at my previous university. Here I think I might know what they are. Let me check with my supervisor and I'll get back to you. ARRRGGGHHHH!!!" Definitely been plenty of lessons in patience over the last few weeks and months.

Hi back to everyone, Amanda, Kelly, Grandma, Clair, Cat, Paul etc.

Kelly you do sound happier, which is wonderful! Congrats to you!

Hi all!

It's nice to hear from everyone here. I did miss that interview with Irwin's wife but my neighbor told me about it when I went over to visit her. It seems to be, in my opinion, the women who feel more of loss and that includes me to. Who wouldn't want husband like Steve Irwin? Fun, passionate, caring, and full of energy (I look up at my Steve Irwin Mcdonald's toy that I got a few years ago that sits on top of my computer this is the one where he's riding an crocodile). I feel bad for Terri indeed. Really bad.

I agree with Kellyt hat the one thing anybody could learn from this is that the small stuff doesn't matter anymore, it doesn't even exist. Go after what you think is important and what makes your heart dance and don't judge yourself for it and don't listen to anybody else.

Hi Everyone!

Paul
I'm so glad that your endeavors are doing so well. It's sooo good to see you up and ready to take on the world.

Have you thought of publishing a cookbook yet? What about your poems?

The US DWTS is in it's 4th week. The have quite a bunch of very talented stars. They are more willing to let themselves go and get into the dances.

I remember you blogging about a dancer named Kym that quit in DWTS in Australia. There is a pro dancer here named Kym Johnson from Australia who is paired with Jerry Springer. Could this be the same dancer? I know she was in SB.

Each week they get more confident and more competive. It will be going down to the wire they are so close.

I wish that I could see the program from you area, but I don't have a 'dish', just cable.

I just had my last cat Smokey put to sleep. He was seventeen and I think had cancer. The leaves me with only one pet, Cricket.

I seems strange that only six years ago, I had three cats, three dogs and two horses. They are all waiting for me at the Rainbow bridge. I thought of getting another cat, but usually they find me, I don't go looking for them.

We also have a program called 'Ballroom Bootcamp', which is a hoot. They take a person who has never danced before pair them with a professional and spend six weeks before their competition. It's hillarious. The winner gets a trophy of a bronzed pair of work boots.

Gran Mil,
I'm glad you and Ellie are in good health and doing so well with your 'Follies'

Take care, & love to all,
Marge
