Paul's Corner

Used to be a cafe mocha with whipped cream, but lately, I've decided they are just too darn sweet. So Cafe Latte it is, although it's "just" pleasure, not really guilty pleasure. But as I'm reducing my caffeine intake at the moment, I do enjoy my morning coffee oh so much more, as it is the only one I drink these days.

Ah and a good glass of wine in the evening on the balcony, just for the pure pleasure of it ...

Sometimes on my first day off from work for the weekend (I work 4x10 hr days, so I have a 3 day weekend EVERY week!)I stay in my comfies and I'm a lazy slug for the day. I would definitely call it a guilty pleasure. Maybe more guilt than pleasure. I piddle around the house and make a nice dinner and take a shower at about 5 pm. ahhhhh. Nobody controlling my day or how it goes....

It does make me feel guilty for some reason though.

ahh yes the old stay in the PJ's all day guilty pleasure! As I dont wear PJ's I would have to hang around the house in the raw all day to acertain the same guilty pleasure something my wife and kids dont actually appreciate or want to see. I do on occassions whilst away in a hotel spend a bit of time indulging in this guilty pleasure!

My kids actually like nothing better whilst on school holidays to have PJ days - yep they dont get out of em all day and they love it!

One of my not-so guilty pleasures is making Saturday breakfast (I never have time to cook up anything during the week as I'm running toooo much)--eggs with chopped ham and swiss cheese with herbs provence or herbs fines, sausages, oat bran toast, chopped fruit, tea--believe me, it's a great luxery! Or, I cook up french toast, with Canadian maply syrup--forget that prefabricated high frutose corn stuff!!!!

The other is a little more sinful--laying in bed all morning with the man I love--however, as we're broken apart, that's been some time since I've savored that! (long story . . . sigh!)

Melody, I'm with you on the last one. As someone who VERY recently entered into a new relationship (think red hearts floating in the air, but not just that, lots of sparks and fireworks too), thinking about laying in bed with him all morning is very pleasurable, ... and as to the why I'm not doing it, well, he is in Europe for the year on an academic research scholarship. This part totally sucks!!!!, ah but then the mind is a powerfully wicked thing--cyber romance is a totally new thing for me and as to the specific guilty pleasures, I'll keep those between him and myself.

Love is a great pleasure, but nothing to feel guilty about...even if that long morning turns into a whole day, week....whatever! LOL

Guilty pleasures?? At my age nothing surprises me at all.

I love chocolate, always did, but don't indulge at all now because of the high calories. Even the advice that a little piece is good for the heart, who is able to eat just a little piece??

I recently got a gift from a friend who knows I love anything Australian. It was chocolate, dark and white, molded in the form of the Sydney Opera House.

Ellie and I broke the dark chocolate in two and devoured it...when it came time to do the same with the white chocolate, it wouldn't break, and I went to get a knife...Ellie calls out, "guess what, Mil, there's a label on the box..IT'S SOAP!"

Needless to say, the Sydney Opera House soap sits in its little box, untouched, but in plain view on a shelf in my workroom...I still adore the Australians....

MaryS, what does "TMI. j/k." stand for? I haven't the faintest idea.

oh, never mind, did a google search on internet acronyms and found. He by the way does that to me all the time and I feel like a total dork having to ask him what they mean. I think it amuses him, but then I can get even by responding in German, something he is learning right now. He has great reading knowledge in German, but his speaking and writing is where he needs to improve and is! but I have the unfair advantage of the native speaker when it comes to German idiomatic expressions. Although he does flirt incredibly well in German when he wants to, yeah yeah, TMI, I know :-)

Yeah, I never thought I would become a person working in the technology world and using all of these silly acronyms. I hated them at first, but when you spend much of the day typing in a an instant messenger chat room with coworkers all over the world, shortcuts come in handy. I guess that's why they are used.

After reading Millie's and your last posts here, another acronym came to mind! Millie, you're a hoot!

When I first saw that one, I thought it stood for loser on line but it means laughing out loud.

I'm glad you found the humor in this, because it can be annoying sometimes. I have felt this way myself. It came in handy in replying to everyone's silly posts yesterday. ;)

Oh, and the winky and smiley faces can get a bit annoying too.

At my age sometimes things have to be repeated...

I got a picture from a little friend in Australia.
(She is brilliant at 11.) She wrote, "Here is a picture of my bf, and do you like my fringe? mwa, mwa."

Well, I figured out that bf is "best friend" and it took me a moment to figure out what a "fringe"
was...she was wearing bangs across her forehead!

It took me longer for "mwa, mwa"...that is the SOUND a person would make while sending kisses! Who would have thought...oh, those wonderful Aussies!

Grandma, you really make me laugh. It's so great. I just love your sense of humor. I really wasn't sure what most of that meant either. I think I would have figured it out, if I wrapped my brain around it for long enough. Fringe...how funny. I'm still laughing. At least I haven't regressed to age 11 yet! Sometimes I wish I could. Go sit on a swing and play with my friends and gossip about the boys...

A guilty pleasure for me is to watch "The Lord of the Rings". I have watched the films so many times that my daughters "yell" at me to stop (they are 17 and 22). So now I have to sneak when they are out of the house!

I loved the films so much that I went to NZ to check out the movie locations!! What an incredibly beautiful country. We went there to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary but I celebrated it with my identical twin sister because my husband decided he didn't really want to go!
