Blimey - very impressive.
I'd better not try it just yet since its 36 degrees here. . .

Thanks for sharing! This blog always has something to make me smile.

You are ONE TALENTED GUY!!!

Paul, you're a brave one--making your own salami-bravo!

I will have to look at the post again as the pictures failed to download and I'm sure they lend to your instructions.

I was thinking of pulling SB out this evening. I actually came back from seeing Stardust, which I thought was pretty surreal and actually awesome. Robert Di Niro steals the show a bit, Michelle Pheiffer is also good. Will go with some friends to see Becoming Jane tomorrow.

Going back to Jill's comment in the last posting--what I think is really fantastic is that we can interact with one of the stars from a movie that has captured our hearts and spirit, and obviously has made the world smile, and will for all time.

Thanks again, Paul--pretty fabulous, mate! (That's about as Aussie as this Chicago gal can get!)

Nothing like butchering one's own name . . .

(sigh!)

I have been trying all day to get the images to upload so that you can see all the pictures - but I am not having any luck so I think Cat is about to get and email from me :)

Bare with us and hopefully you will get all the visual as well!

Salami? Gave it up years ago, too much sodium, but loved it as a kid fried with eggs!

Grandma Mil, I reckon you would love my Salami!!

How is Elliot doing? Havent had an update on the old fella for a bit. Dont mean to call him an old fella just stirring him in a loving Aussie way:) He will probably want to give me a talking to now!

I love salami!!!!! though I've never made it. Good for you for making it. It sounds like you had / are having a blast making it and probably, when the time comes to eat it, you will have an even greater blast.
I'm tempted to try it some day. Right now it is too hot here, even after the heat wave broke 2 1/2 days ago, it's still hot. Yesterday I had to laugh about the weather. Two days ago, at midnight, it was still 32 C outside that was the low for the day and about 42 C the high for the day (in the shade!!!) yesterday the high was about 33 C but unfortunately much more humid!! My new Teaching assistant from Germany who arrived on Friday thinks its incredibly hot. When I told her that it was actually refreshingly cool after the heatwave we had just prior to her arrival, that stunned and confused look on her face was priceless. I never really thought about how culturally influenced our perceptions of what constitutes hot or cold weather are. I like her, I think this is going to be fun working with her this academic year!

happy Sunday!

Dear Paul,

Ellie is okay, thank you for asking!

He is as good as one can be at almost 77 years old. He has a head of beautiful thick hair,
watches his weight, walks 3 miles a day around our development, and generally, we feel blessed.

However, his upper dental plate broke the other day, and he has to take it to the lab. Now, instead of looking like Clark Gable, he looks more like Gabby Hayes...(a toothless old codger of the old cowboy movies!)

"Strictly Ballroom" is still discussed around our community in a way I cannot divulge at this time.

Good luck with the salami, and love to you, Andrea, and the girls.

Shalom and love to all the PCers.

Leave it to Granda Mil to find humor in the things that most of us could not. Gabby Hayes. How cute is that? I hope Ellie isn't too uncomfortable. He definitely could not take a bite out of a salami right now. Not that he would want to...or maybe he would! I guess that would be a bit uncivilized anyway.

Beautiful Colorado day here. I'm going to get out and enjoy it.

Love to you all.

Dear Mary,

Not to worry, Ellie laughs about Gabby Hayes also.

Don't forget, he's my Clark Gable who, incidentally, had full false teeth...Vivien Leigh
hated to kiss him in "Gone With The Wind"....Clark Gable, that is, not Ellie! Oh, shucks, I'm all confused already....I'm having an "intellectual overload" that befalls seniors once in awhile.

Shalom and love,

Grandma Mil

Grandma Mil--at least you're spelling your name correctly as you post! :D

Paul, thanks for mounting the other picture--looks delicious. I know you and your family will enjoy every slice!

Paul, you rock. Even without the images I can imagine what you were doing. I love salami but I prefer someone else do the work. :o)

Sorry, this has nothing to do with salami, but I just have to mention- regarding the post involving the chain mail- I just have to update y'all. I had mentioned not getting a job I wanted- it was for a custodial position at a high school- which I later found out I didn't want because the kids are gross (to put it bluntly, used condoms under the bleachers- yuck!) Well, I just got hired today at my kids school- elementary thru 8th grade (custodial position versus the kitchen I'm in now) with the hours I want and benefits- yeah! So, this is actually better than what I was hoping for.
(Sorry, don't mean to monopolize your corner...life is such a soap opera!)
Everybody, take care!

Anne--that's really great! Good luck with your new job!

Happy weekend everyone!

Great news, Anne! :o)

Its been so quiet in here... and no salami update! ;o)

Posted by: Sarah on September 2, 2007 03:30 AMfrom IP: 166.61.201.66

Melody and Sarah- Thanks for your well wishes!
I'm not sure who I should be thanking, whether it's people here in the corner or a few at the church I go too...(I know, I know, I should be thanking God) Happy no laboring Labor Day weekend!

Posted by: Anne on September 3, 2007 08:09 AMfrom IP: 24.8.169.65

Hi Sarah - been "missing" my weekend update ;o), Melody, Mary and everyone at the "corner".

I'm confused (what's new???) Not sure which thread to post on.

Not that I have ANYTHING to say about salami - being (mostly) vegetarian and living in 100 degree heat at the moment!

Hope everyone is well and taking care of themselves.
