I am returning
Yes it is true that I am returning to be a Judge on Dancing with The Stars! However it is not what some people think! I am returning to judge the New Zealand version not the Australian version. It will be my 3rd time as a judge on the NZ show in it's 4 year history - season two I was unable to judge due to commitments on the Australian version. http://tvnz.co.nz/view/page/2418280 I am looking forward to getting back to Wellington and being a part of the show. They do a great job, have raised lots of money as you can see by the article and are still rating stronger with every season. I also have a real soft spot for Wellington and was there in November shooting two episodes for Mercurio's Menu and was also there in Sept as MC for the New Zealand International Beer awards. It is a groovy city with a great food and beer scene! The Mercurio's Menu goes to air in February on Chanel 7 with the NZ eps probably showing late March or so. I am talking with the production company about making the DVD's of the show available for sale.... anyone here interested in buying the series?? I have four more shows to shoot to complete series two which has been going very well. The good news is that once series two is in the can and on the TV here then we can start to look at selling the show to bigger markets such as the UK and the US as they prefer 26 episodes to less than that. Fingers crossed. Thanks to Liz for leaking the news re DWTS NZ Note: comments on old entries are closed. Please comment only on the current entry. Comments Congratulations Paul DWTS Australia is just lame. Enjoy NZ and have a great time judging down there. And yes I would buy any series of Mercurio's Menu on DVD in a heart beat. You actually passed through my hometown in North Qld recently while you were shooting an episode of MM and you were on the front page of our twice-weekly newspaper standing in our main street and looking very cute Hope everyone is looking forward to a great Xmas season Michele L . Your opportunities seem "You are always in our hearts even though you're far away.." What a way to start the New Year! Shalom and love, Grandma Mil Posted by: GRANDMA MIL on December 14, 2008 07:59 PMfrom IP: 66.32.71.162This is great news, Paul. A fine start to the new year! Please let us know when the DVDs are available. It would be grand to finally watch MM--my own personal viewing right here in Chicago! :D Nonetheless, I hope you have sufficient episodes to finally make it here in the States--like our WTTW Channel 11 in Chicago! Or Foodnetwork, too. And now that you're back on DWTS, maybe there's hope you might be invited to guest judge our US version. Now THAT I'll make sure to watch! Paul, here's wishing a fabulous 2009 to you and your family!
Great to know you will be with DWTS NZ nd that the show has raised funds for charity!!!You always help those in need. Wellington seems such a great city with great beer; no wonder it is one of your favorites. I did not mean to leak the news prematurely but as PCs we always want to follow everything that is going on with you. Mercurio's Menu--see your electric sky catalogue--we can't buy unless we are a media company; will be the first to get DVD once made available. http://www.electricsky.com/catalogue_detail.aspx?program=2122
Snow is what we have here; trying to keep the hummingbird feeder from freezing so the birds can get to it. The Audubon people said these birds are hardy and do not need special birdhouses and survive even snowy winters eating insects; they are not dependent on the feeder--it is just an extra treat for them. So good to know they will do well. Best Wishes to Paul and the PCs and looking forward to DWTSNZ and MM!!! Congrats again Paul! Sorry to have leaked the news prematurely but as PCs we are always interested all you're up to. Thanks for the snow--main computer crashed, corporate Xmas party cancelled, nothing to do but to be. Posted by: Liz on December 15, 2008 06:42 AMfrom IP: 24.22.75.68Great news on DWTS NZ. At least they have some brains. LOL Add me to the list of those willing to buy DVDs of MM. I'll also continue to cross my fingers that the show will get picked up in the US. :o) I hope all at PC are doing well. I've been incredibly busy trying to get my act together for the holiday. So far I'm not coming along too well - I still have all my cards and parcels to mail. Eeep! Ah well, it's the thought that counts, right? ;o) Posted by: Sarah on December 15, 2008 02:48 PMfrom IP: 4.248.48.53Congratulations on return to the program, I here in Brazil I am interested in buying the DVDs to watch at home, only warn when and where to buy! This is great news Paul! all the best, Julie Posted by: Julie on December 16, 2008 01:51 AMfrom IP: 74.173.209.65Top 7 Australian Films, of course SB is in the list. I like SB the best but have seen and liked Babe and Muriel's Wedding which are also on the list. Now let's hope Paul's MM makes the US in syndication! :) Posted by: Melody on December 17, 2008 04:18 AMfrom IP: 163.192.13.153Congrats to Paul! Enjoy NZ, always wanted to visit both NZ and OZ and I hope to do so at some point ... maybe I need to submit something to an academic conference and get there that way. Grading is done for the semester, tg! but of course not the administrative stuff, that will keep me busy for a while yet. Posted by: Evelyn on December 17, 2008 04:48 AMfrom IP: 165.134.13.147Congratulations Paul!!! I'm so very pleased for your return to NZ's DWTS!!!! I just cringed every time we mentioned the US version of DWTS in consideration of your frustration with the OZ version. I'm so very glad NZ sees your worth!!! I would love to purchase MM, but will I have trouble viewing it as I understand the formatting is different in OZ than it is in US. Merry Christmas and Happy Hanakkah to everyone here at Paul's Corner. I don't know if I'll be able to check in with you all as my days look rather packed for the duration. I wanted to be sure to get my greetings out to you all. Posted by: Marian on December 17, 2008 05:18 AMfrom IP: 4.245.62.73Marian, believe it or not most DVD drives in computers will play "region free." I'm not sure why but it's something a number of my friends found. :o) Posted by: Sarah on December 17, 2008 02:36 PMfrom IP: 4.248.54.0Regarding region free on computers for 'international DVDs" depending on your computer system, you can only switch back and forth so many times before it will lock you in on the region you last used. But there is a free software called VLC, which is a DVD player software which avoids this issue entirely as it switches DVD regions in the application not in your computer system. But there are great region free DVD players that are often cheaper than regular DVD players, at least in the US but you have to buy them online. I love mine! Got tired of watching all the international DVDs on my laptop and as part of my work, I do watch and use european DVDs frequently in class. It can be maddening the difference between NTSC and PAL. One thing they have started doing with flamenco DVDs, is one side is NTSC and the other is PAL. That's been really helpful. Otherwise I have to watch PALs on my computer. But Paul and MM will be very worth while. I'm hoping the series makes the PBS in the States. As I've said in other posts, the cooking shows are popular on our Channel 11, and I think having Paul and his recipes and travels from down under will be very welcomed. Of course, knowing Channel 11, they'll save it for their fund drives . . . which is a compliment as the most intriguing shows are shown during these fund drives. Posted by: Melody on December 18, 2008 02:18 AMfrom IP: 163.192.13.153Grandma Mil's DVD is available to order as region 0, NTSC DVD for US viewers; you have to choose Australia as the country as the dropdown menu does not have other countries; just note your country in the mailing address. www.marcom.com.au is the website for My Biggest Fan. Looking forward to the Mercurio's Menu DVD or the show's syndication in the US. Snow and ice brought all to a standstill. Hope all of the PCs are safe in this weather. I envy those in Aus/NZ who are having warm summer weather. Also, congrats on the pick up in NZ, great news. PC friends (as some know), I've been under the weather (well, the weather fell right on ME!) for the past couple of months, just getting back to normal - will try to catch up with the threads, hope all is well with everyone. Happy Holidays ALL! Posted by: Rosie on December 20, 2008 02:11 AMfrom IP: 71.178.71.79Hi Rosie nice to hear from you. The weather has not been very helpful lately--glad to hear that you are going back to your routine and that we are part of what's normal for you. But then the PCs are not normal... Can't blog to the new post where the Mercurios are dancing as elves in a jig--the whole family has been elfed!!! Merry Christmas to Paul and his lovely elves! Posted by: Liz on December 20, 2008 07:37 PMfrom IP: 24.22.75.68Hi Everyone! Fantastic news Paul! You're riding a great wave of good fortune, but mostly due to your tenacity! Right on young man! I too wish I could watch you judge on DWTS here in the U.S. Is there not a glimmer of hope you can offer us?? Grandma and Ellie, thank you for the kind wishes. I wish the very best to you both for 2009 also. I'm sure with the beautiful energy you emit, only rays of goodness will fall upon you and your family. My Mac is on the blink. Hopefully will have it worked out soon. Hoping the Apple store will offer a genius to figure it out. But I am typing at work in the meantime and after tonight won't have the system again at home until it's fixed. Enjoy the season everyone! Will catch up with the posts. xxxooo Posted by: MaryS on December 21, 2008 11:16 AMfrom IP: 192.18.101.5I realize there is a new post but thought I'd stop back here to say my Mac is fixed!
