Wonderful!!!
I have just finished watching My Biggest Fan with my wife and my three daughters and we all thought it was a wonderful heart felt journey into some truly beautiful people! Even you too Ellie! Wow, what a refreshing and honest approach Tara took and what a wonderful; insight into Millie and her life! It was so lovely to see you guys and get a glimpse of your life and to also see and meet your lovely daughters. I am just buzzed!!! My wife and daughters really enjoyed the whole journey and of course we have a vested interest in it as their Dad was a part of it! Tara what a wonderful and honest story told thank you. After talking and reading from you guys it was a privelige to meet you through Tara's film. I am now your biggest fan! much love Paul, Andrea, Elise, Emily and Erin Note: comments on old entries are closed. Please comment only on the current entry. Comments Hey Paul, what a switch from being despondent with what's going on with your work, then seeing MBF with your family and feeling uplifted. (see post before this). The book says that it (all that is happening) is a play of forms--our thoughts are fleeting, and that the only constant is the now. I cannot say it as well as Tolle says it--if you are ready, the book will make sense to you and it does for a lot of people who have sufferred-that seems to have let me be more open to grasping what the book is saying. But no shoulds if you should read it. To others it seemed all nonsense. I wish I can see the movie too, have read the reviews and your review and your family really enjoying it and sounds really good. Will check YouTube for any clips as Grandma Mil said Ondine, Tara's dtr, is very good at such things. I am honored to own a copy of MBF and in 100% agreement with Paul's sentiments. I was "high" all day after watching the film! Posted by: MaryS on January 25, 2010 04:27 AMfrom IP: 97.118.68.214Dear Paul, Ellie and I were very touched by your comments regarding "My Biggest Fan". I am so proud that you saw it with your wife and children. Its message could appeal to all ages; those people that wrote to Tara and me thanked us; we were so gratified. Many said they were inspired; one woman said she promised herself that she would learn to take care of herself, and do things that bring her purpose, pleasure, and involvement, for her elderly father, who is still hearty for his age, is so negative about life in general. I will forward your letter to Tara; I am sure she will also be touched! Ellie sends his thanks; he always wears his favorite cap around here every day!
Again, thank you Paul; your beautiful letter made our day! Shalom and love to you, Andrea, and your beautiful girls. (Ojala is a term we use in flamenco and used when something is beyond words or truly inspired. It came into the Spanish language from the Moors.) Posted by: Melody on January 25, 2010 05:19 AMfrom IP: 76.193.16.192Went back to see the ending posts on the last entry-- MaryS, wishing and hoping that your work status will turn out better than anticipated. Sarah, also rooting for you and watching your progress on your blog and FB. Paul--you're an Aries and from what I've read and seen you accomplish, much akin to the Magician (the 1st card of the Tarot major arcanum). Wishing you new projects worth your fabulous talent when you approach the fall horizon. I'm sure all PCs agree--you rock! Posted by: Melody on January 25, 2010 05:32 AMfrom IP: 76.193.16.192I so agree with your assessment, Paul! I think I need to watch this again soon! I felt even more connected, because I've been to FL and met Millie and Ellie and others from PC in person, as well as most of the cast in the Follies. They really are a Special group of wonderful people that have such a passion for life. So personable and genuine, really touching and I do think that Tara brought this out in a really wonderful way in the movie, but that's the way they all are, it's not a 'show' it's real! Posted by: Evelyn on January 26, 2010 03:33 AMfrom IP: 165.134.13.33For the PCs who happen to have the MBF disc, any chance you can upload a clip onto YouTube? even just a short segment? As for whether Paul is in the right profession as an actor, as a fan I think no one else can make asparagus interesting--you have that talent with performing in front of the camera and connecting with the audience and make them be interested in anything including asparagus, not that you are trying hard, as Graeme Murphy said, you have that connection with the audience in your perfomance; so here is asparagus as shown by Paul Posted by: Liz on January 27, 2010 04:55 AMfrom IP: 76.105.220.10Liz, I would have to check with Tara before anything about MBF is put on Youtube. She would have to check with SBS TV that has the rights! I personally would love it; she too, but have to check first! Paul is on Facebook and I sent him a message; another guy named "Paul Mercurio" answered and wanted to know who I was!! The nerve! I told him to bug off (in a nice way..) Shalom and love, Grandma Mil Posted by: Grandma Mil on January 27, 2010 12:31 PMfrom IP: 66.32.67.3That makes sense Grandma Mil. We got sun today; so rare where we live in January!!!My eyes hurt. Posted by: Liz on January 28, 2010 01:04 AMfrom IP: 76.105.220.10 Hello MaryS, how are you doing? Curious as to what the outcome was--let us know. Sarah I hope all went well and that you are feeling better and we'd like to hear from you too. Posted by: Liz on January 28, 2010 10:21 PMfrom IP: 76.105.220.10Liz, I'm glad you posted Paul's segment on the asparagus--I happen to love 'em!! Now I know how they look when they sprout and grow. :) (The computer here doesn't have sound--will rewatch when I'm back home . . . frustrating!) Posted by: Melody on January 29, 2010 05:39 AMfrom IP: 163.192.13.153I know how white and green asparagus is grown. I'm from the white asparagus growing region in germany. Yumm!!!! white asparagus is a LOT more work and back-breaking work on top of that! Evelyn, is the asparagus white bec it is grown in the dark and does not need pigment? Or is it a mutant asparagus? Any producers/writers reading this, know that Paul's fans all over the world are eager to watch his shows, so we will wait for shows to come in production. Be it a show on produce or a drama or dance... Posted by: Liz on January 29, 2010 07:38 AMfrom IP: 72.11.125.206It's the same plant, but once it's exposed to light, it turns purplish/green. and the flavor changes. What they do to keep it white is to build mini-dykes/levies under which the asparagus grows. Each morning and evening, you have to go out and look for cracks in the sandy soil from the asparagus about to break through. you use your fingers to dig it out and a special knife to cut it down in the sand-dyke and when you have the asparagus out, you cover it all up and keep moving along and repeat. It really is back breaking work, as you have to lean over and look closely. I went out harvesting white asparagus a few times with my friend whose family were farmers and growing asparagus. I am very happy to be home as I was quite uncomfortable in the hospital bed. So much nicer to be back in my own. I will keep everyone posted on how things go. Right now I get worn down very quickly so I'm taking things quite slow. Posted by: Sarah on January 30, 2010 10:18 AMfrom IP: 75.197.136.248Good that you are home where you can now heal and get used to your new life Sarah! I was also just stopping by to let everyone know that thankfully I was offered a position with Oracle, the company which acquired Sun Microsystems, INC, for whom I have worked for over 11 years. I have a new title, but luckily, the same pay and much better looking benefits! Oracle is a company that is probably 10 times larger, more well known and well respected. It will be great to add to my resume! I'm so happy and blessed! Posted by: MaryS on January 31, 2010 12:19 AMfrom IP: 97.118.64.25Mary, I'm happy to hear that everything has worked out well for you! Sarah glad to hear the surgery went well an you are home, comfortable and recovering. Slow and steady - you will be up and about and fit and healthy before you know it just be patient - double entendre intended! Liz I am glad to know that I am in the right profession - being an actor - because I can make asparagus look interesting :) lol!! Posted by: Paul on February 1, 2010 01:25 PMfrom IP: 124.181.146.10Congrats MaryS now that you are with Oracle! So all you producers and writers and show directors please keep the shows happening; we will watch asparagus or any other vegetable or any other show or movie if Paul presents it or is in it. Listen to your audience! Posted by: Liz on February 2, 2010 01:45 AMfrom IP: 76.105.220.10It's so good to come back to good news on PC. MaryS, our company uses Oracle (PeopleSoft) for both finance and personnel needs, so glad to hear this worked for you! Sarah, so glad to hear you're home. Hope you're healing well and on your way! Evelyn (and Paul), I love asparagus and now that I know how it's grown, I will savor it the more knowing what goes into cultivating it. Liz, so true--producers, writers and directors, listen to your audience. :) Posted by: Melody on February 2, 2010 05:44 AMfrom IP: 163.192.12.153All this talk of asparagus is making me long for the day I can add it to my diet again! (Probably at least 3-4 more weeks.) I have my follow-up with the doctor and nutritionist Thursday morning. I'm sure I'll get to move to the "mushy/pureed" stage at that point. Cottage cheese here I come! (It is oddly the only thing I've been craving.) I put a very long entry on my blog earlier tonight. As always the link is in my "signature." I'd happily head off to bed right now but I screwed up my vitamins today and can't take my iron for another 40 mins (it has to be at least 2 hours away from a calcium). *sigh* Guess I'll just enjoy the company of the kitties. :D Posted by: Sarah on February 2, 2010 12:20 PMfrom IP: 75.196.3.143Sarah, just read your blog and I wish you a speedy recovery. It kind of makes you wonder about multiple vitamins if you need to wait two hours between taking iron and calcium. (Think of all the multiple vitamin products out there that have them together or added.) Often wondered about taking all that in one tablet and if anything cancels out the other when combined! Take care all! Posted by: Melody on February 3, 2010 03:09 AMfrom IP: 163.192.12.153Thank you all for such support and kind words! I agree with Liz. I would enjoy seeing Paul watch paint dry and think about how "pensive, thoughtful, beautiful" he was! Sorry to gush Paul! p.s. I love asparagus and eat it allot when it's in season. I love artichokes too! Sarah, you're doing so well with your journey. I see your determination more and more. Do you get to season your cottage cheese? lol. Kidding. I like it plain too. It's good. Just want to let you all know that after the last (nothing more to do) round of chemo, my sister continues to show signs of the cancer winning the battle. Please keep her in your prayers and good thoughts. She has been so very forceful in her life, but a reminder, yet again, that we can only do so much and then the rest has to be left to the universe, God, the gods, fate... We need to learn to be still and let it unfold in front of us, otherwise we are constantly pushing and shoving and the world shoves back. I am in NO way judging. I am simply stating human nature. My sister is an absolutely awesome person, a wonderful wife and mother and a powerful force of nature! I love her! Please pray for us. All of us. Posted by: MaryS on February 3, 2010 09:38 AMfrom IP: 97.118.64.25I have just had a call from my brother-in-law. My sister is in the hospital after suffering a stroke. She is coherent and talking but with paralysis on one side of her body. After the scan was taken the Dr. has asked us to prepare as our time with my sister is now short. We of course, do not know how much time may be left for her. We love her so much and it is so hard to let go. We will need to take care of each other but it is so hard when we are all falling apart. Please focus on her spirit and wish her peaceful passage. We are heart broken. Posted by: MaryS on February 3, 2010 10:49 AMfrom IP: 97.118.64.25Mary, I am so sorry to read your news. Of course your sister, you and your family are in my thoughts. As for the cottage cheese, I prefer mine with a bit of unsweetened applesauce. I got that from my nanny. :) Posted by: Sarah on February 3, 2010 11:09 AMfrom IP: 75.197.157.16Mary, so sorry about your news; you are in my thoughts. You love your sister so much--you state how much you admire how strong she has been through her ordeal. Sarah, cottage cheese is good with pineapple or just plain. Posted by: Liz on February 3, 2010 12:09 PMfrom IP: 76.105.211.5so sorry Mary! thinking about you, your sister and your family! Posted by: Liz on February 4, 2010 11:06 AMfrom IP: 76.105.220.10Dear Mary, Ellie and I send you and your family our deepest sympathy. Rebecca was a remarkable person; we hope that all the loving memories of things you shared as sisters will sustain you through this very sad time. Shalom (peace) and love, Mildred Levine (Grandma Mil) Posted by: GRANDMA MIL on February 4, 2010 05:54 PMfrom IP: 66.32.67.3Dear Mary, I am very upset that I wrote such a post previously about your dear sister, Rebecca. I am truly sorry. Of course, she is still in our prayers, and Ellie is saying that special prayer in synagogue on the Sabbath. Shalom (peace) and love, Mildred Levine (Grandma Mil) Posted by: GRANDMA MIL on February 4, 2010 06:16 PMfrom IP: 66.32.67.3Mary, your sister is in my thoughts as are you. Letting go is impossibly hard and there are many cliches one could write to try and give you strength but the fact is it is a journey that one must take on their own even as you share hugs from others around you.You can take comfort in the fact that they who leave us are at peace it is we who are left with pain. I hope the time with your sister is rich and I know you will cherish it. Posted by: Paul on February 5, 2010 05:18 AMfrom IP: 124.180.145.64Thank you Paul and everyone for your kind thoughts. Thank you Millie and Ellie for continuing to pray for my sister and all who suffer from this horrible disease. My sister is home from the hospital. Hospice will begin slowly coming to visit her and help out as needed. She actually recovered from what was a relatively mild stroke pretty quickly. She has lost allot of strength, but what was a mild paralysis in one side of her body has improved to almost normal again already! Her mind, of course, from the cancer and the stroke is struggling a bit, but if any of you ever got a chance to know my sister you would never picture her as a sick person with the larger than life and powerful will and personality that she has. Sometimes I think she pushed through life too hard and it pushed back. But this is who she is and she could never be anything else. She's bright, spontaneous, cranky, easy to laugh (which is ironic to be both at the same time) and very very loving. She's amazing! We may not have much time left, but we are still enjoying her so much and vise versa. You are so right, it's us who have to let go and never hold or see them again, who truly suffer. I cannot imagine her letting go of her family either though. They are SO close! Life is just such a true lesson! Words cannot express how much I love and appreciate all of you!! I am so lucky!
