Take A Breath

Take a breath, a deep breath
how many millions of experiences can you smell
how many people have savoured that same breath
and added their own life force
exhailed with love and fear
joy and saddness
life and death
How many trees have sung it's sweet whisper
and how many grains of sand
each a memory of it's own
have been carried upon that breath
to a beach somewhere
to form the shore for our life to gently lap upon
and for the wandering of the seabreeze
to begin again

Now I think that's very good Paul!!!! You seem to be in touch with the fractal nature of things. I hope you'll start sketching soon, if you aren't already. I recommend the philosophy examined in a book caled "Zen and the Art of Drawing" (I think that's the title). I believe you'd really enjoy this approach.

Your poems have meant a lot to me as I have read and reread each one of them.

I looked at Sylvia Hurts site. I am not as brave as she is because I can't post my name and address. It would hurt too many people to reveal my "condition" as most of my family does not accept any kind of mental problems as a viable medical condition. I have bipolar manic depression. When I am manic I am totally out of control and when I am depressed I am suicidal. To add to the situation I was sexual abused as a child also as Sylvia was.

Anyway, I wanted to let you know that your poems have helped me cope in some of my worst times. I just read them and feel better, cry a little, think a lot and go on with life.
