MUM’S AMBROSIA

The Collins English Dictionary lists Ambrosia as:1\ Classical Myth. the food of the gods, said to bestow immortality. 2\ anything particularly delightful to taste or smell. Sounds like a perfect dessert. This recipe was given to my Mother in 1960. I started eating it around 1963 although it was blended then (I didn’t have any teeth).

2 - 3 oranges
plain marshmellows
seedless grapes
1 small can pineapple pieces
dessicated coconut
whipped cream

Basically throw everything in together and mix well (Don’t forget to peel the oranges first). If you use too much cream and want to thin the consistancy of the mixture use some of the juice from the pineapple. Make before time so that the coconut has time to absorb the juices from the orange and pineapple. Keep in the fridge so it’s nicely chilled when you serve. It goes great with anything!

My mom made this too when I was a little girl. Mom called it Heavenly Hash.
